Tempting the Billionaire by Jessica Lemmon

Crickitt Day needs a job . . . any job. After her husband walks out on her, she's determined to re-build her life and establish a new career. When swoon-worthy billionaire Shane August hires her as his assistant, she jumps at the chance to prove herself. Despite her growing attraction to her boss, she vows to keep things strictly professional. No flirting. No kissing. Definitely no falling in love...

Shane August is all business, all the time. He's a self-made man who's poured his heart and soul into his company, and he'd never allow himself to get involved with an employee. Then he hires sweet, sexy Crickitt-and he can't keep his mind or his hands off her. But no matter how much he wants Crickitt, Shane fears that painful secrets from his past will always come between them. With fate working against them, can these two lonely hearts learn that sometimes mixing business with pleasure is the perfect merger?

About the Author

Jessica Lemmon has always been a dreamer. At some point, she decided head-in-the-clouds thinking was childish, went out, and got herself a job . . . and then she got another one because that one was lousy. And when that one stopped being fulfilling, she went out and got another . . . and another. Soon it became apparent she'd only be truly happy doing what she loved. And since "eating potato chips" isn't a viable career, she opted to become a writer. With fire in her heart, she dusted off a book she'd started years prior, finished it, and submitted it. It may have been the worst book ever, but it didn't stop her from writing another one. Now she has several books finished, several more started, and even more marinating in her brain (which currently resides in the clouds, thankyouverymuch), and she couldn't be happier. She firmly believes God gifts us with talents for a purpose, and with His help, you can create the life you want. (While eating potato chips.)

Jessica is an ex-meat-eater, writer, artist, dreamer, wife, and den mother to two dogs.

## This book is frustrating as hell. This hero is beyond nuts. His yo-yo routine got old after the first 200 pages. I want her, I don't want her, I want her, I don't want her.....geez, bi-polar much? Then another hundred pages? Are you freaking kidding me? This book started off so good. Charming and funny, then BAM...stupidity took over. I had such high hopes for this heroine. But once again I was disappointed by her needy character. He says horrible things to her out of the blue, breaks it off with her repeatedly, is rude and condescending and he says "forgive me?" And she says okay. Every. Single. Time. She lets him walk all over her! Ugh. Worst kind of heroine. The only reason I upped my rating to 3 stars was because I had a hard time putting this book down. Of course finally I realized that it was just going to repeat itself. Again. This story had so much potential, if the author had shortened this book by about 100 pages so I wouldn't have been so frustrated about the back and forth. Sorry but I can't recommend.

Tempting The Billionaire is a fun and sexy escape read that will hook you from beginning to end. After the end of her almost ten year marriage, Crickitt Day had the lowest self-esteem imaginable. She quit her high paying job and doubted her every decision. Now after using most of her savings she needs to find another job, but with what she believes to be little to no useful skills she is having a hard time finding one that pays well. Shane August is looking for a PA, but after he was featured on a magazine all he gets are women with no skills looking to fill another type of position in his life, not the PA position. Now he is in a nightclub with his recently divorced cousin trying to help him get out of his depressed state. But in this case his cousin ends up helping him, for when he tells Shane to show him how to start flirting with a woman on the club, Shane sees Crickitt and is immediately attracted towards her. So much, that he hooks up his cousin to Crickitt’s friend so he can talk to her.  At first it may seem like Shane is just trying to, oddly enough, hit on her, but Crickitt doesn’t believe that he is really interested. So when he offers her a job interview as his PA, after hearing some of her story and what she can do, Crickitt first decides to decline. That is until she researches the company she believes Shane works for. According to Shane she is the perfect fit for the position as PA, she has the organizational skills and enough management knowledge to help him balance his work life. Shane and Crickitt will not have an easy courtship, but their love sure is fun to see develop. First they do not want to cross the boundaries between business and personal relationships, but they cannot deny the attraction or chemistry between them. Life may have some surprises for them, but if they are willing to open up and be honest about their feelings and thoughts they will have a chance at having their own HEA regardless of what they consider their past mistakes.

I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. You laugh, you cry and hope they both can overcome their fears. A very good read, looking forward to the next installment.

Posted on Romancing the Books blog / Reviewed by JoAnne / Review Copy Provided by the Publisher / I recently started reading romances with billionaires as the main character and focus of the plot and Tempting the Billionaire didn’t disappoint. While a cute premise with the main characters of Shane and Crickitt fighting their chemistry and attraction every inch of the way I couldn’t help but root for them to finally connect after surrendering to what their hearts knew even if their heads didn’t always agree. They each tended to live life as little as possible because of previous hurts and didn’t want to open up to each other due to fear of rejection and loss. The segues were sometimes choppy that I would look back to the computer where I was reading the book to make sure I didn’t skip a page. Other than that the story had multifaceted characters, great and varied locations with vivid descriptions, a nice story line and enough angst and make-ups to keep my interest throughout. Tempting the Billionaire had romance, love, family and friends plus all consuming jobs for Shane and Crickitt which tended to make them workaholics, as well as an unexpected happily ever after which gave wonderful closure. The excerpt at the end for the next book in the series which is coming out in the spring really made me want to read it now. I’m glad to see we’ll be reunited with the characters we’ve met in Tempting the Billionaire and see how their lives and love continue to grow in book 2. Lemmon will definitely added to my list of authors I like to read especially if this as her debut novel is her caliber of writing. Favorite Quote: “Crickitt,”, a silken male voice said after she said hello. “It’s Shane.” “Hi.” The word sailed out on an exhaled breath and she’d unintentionally added a second syllable. Maybe he’d assume the husk in her voice was because she’d been sleeping. Which made her imagine being in bed. Which made her wonder if he was. She stood and began pacing across the room. “I, uh, didn’t recognize this number.”

I really enjoyed reading this book! It was easy to be drawn into the characters lives. I found myself wondering about what was going to happen next...needless to say, I did not put it down for long. I carried the book with me and snuck a few pages every chance I got. Cannot wait for Jessica's next book!

This is a good book, but very long for Shane to come to his senses. I felt the book was to long.

A long buildup that doesnt follow the cookie cutter approach. Some parts felt repetitive, waiting for Shane to come to his senses. Still enjoyed!

Didn't think I could enjoy this story any more than I did the first time I read it but I did!! Shane August is a hard working guy that has built his business one step at a time. His one steadfast rule - never date an employee. Crickett Day desperately needs a job so when Shane offers her the position of his personal assistant she grabs the opportunity. Now all they have to do is fight the burning attraction between them! I absolutely adore the writings of Jessica Lemmon and this is the book that got it started! Great plots, great characters, and laugh out loud humor makes this series one of my favorites. Recommend it to everyone!

Okay, here's the deal. I agree with a previous reviewer that there are way to many romance novels involving billionaire's right now flooding the romance market. That being said, that is where the similarities end and this romance story begins. Shane August is the quintessential hero. Rich, hot, sweet, hot, nice, hot, oh and did I mention hot. But said hotness is not from looks alone. Does he rock the three piece suit? You betcha. But Shane had another layer I found endearingly more realistic than any of the typical alpha characters that seem to be the norm right now, his sensitive side. I wanted to date this guy. Cricket didn't do as much for me but I think that had more to do with me wanting Shane for myself. After her self pride is shredded, Cricket needs to find a way to start fresh. Right place, right time, enter Shane August. But these two don't have a straight drive to happily ever after. No, that would be to easy, instead we get to go on a journey loaded with one liners that will have you laughing out loud and a story line that demands you see it through to the end.
