Tempting the Bodyguard by J. Lynn

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint…

He can protect her from everyone except himself.

Alana Gore is in danger. A take-no-prisoners publicist, her way with people has made her more than a few enemies over the years, but a creepy stalker is an entirely different matter. She needs a bodyguard, and the only man she can ask is not only ridiculously hot, but reputed to have taste for women that goes beyond adventurous.

Chandler Gamble has one rule: don't protect anyone you want to screw. But with Alana, he's caught between his job and his increasingly hard libido. On one hand, Alana needs his help. On the other, Chandler wants nothing more than to take the hot volcano of a woman in hand. To make her writhe in pleasure, until she's at his complete mercy.

She needs protection. He needs satisfaction. And the moment the line is crossed, all hell will break loose...

About the Author

#1 New York Times and USA TODAY Bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout lives in Martinsburg, West Virginia. All the rumors you've heard about her state aren't true. When she's not hard at work writing, she spends her time reading, working out, watching really bad zombie movies, pretending to write, and hanging out with her husband and her Jack Russell Terrier, Loki.

Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories...which explains her dismal grades in math. Jennifer writes young adult paranormal, science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary romance. She is published with Spencer Hill Press, Entangled Teen, Disney/Hyperion, and Harlequin Teen. She also writes adult and New Adult romance under the name J. Lynn for Entangled Publishing and HarperCollins.

So, I have to say that I am totally surprised at my adoration of this book. I mean, I loved the first two in this series. I really thought for sure that the second one would be my favorite, after all this one is about the oldest brother. But OMGosh does this book just work. And it works you! Why can there not be more Gamble brothers? Only three? I am going to go through withdrawal! Blurb from Goodreads: A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint... And the moment the line is crossed, all hell will break loose.. Not a big fan of the covers of these books. They are rather generic. But, the phrase don't judge a book by it's cover definitely fits in this book! If you haven't read the first two books in this series, no worries. While it might be nice to understand the relationship of the brothers and a few other characters, it's not necessary. Lynn does a good job with describing how they are intertwined and you can just read this and be happy with it. Alana, we've met her before. She was Chad's publicist in book #2. And she wasn't really liked then! In this book we certainly see a different side of her. She's much more vulnerable than she would ever let on. She comes off as tough as nails, which she is, but she has this side to her that feels guilty about what she's done to get to where she needs to be. She's always been more of a loner but in this book we see a totally different side of her. She takes care of her needs in this book. And she goes after what she wants, although she denies it for a while just to get us worked up. Chandler, I wasn't sure I would like him with his bruteness and long hair. But honestly I grew to totally enjoy him in this book. He hard ass for sure, but he's got this softer side that you would never see coming. I was not expecting him to be so caring. And sexy. I didn't think I would find him swoon worthy but holy moly he becomes just that. What I saw in the other books was not what he became in this book at all! He's refreshing and not like what you would imagine. I thought for sure he was like Chad with his fear of commitment but he's so different than what I thought! We see old characters in this book. It was nice to know their back stories but not totally necessary. I think that is one of the things I love about this series. You can definitely read them as stand alones. And Lynn makes the book fast paced and suspenseful. Definitely more than the prior books. Of course Chandler is in that profession, being a body guard and owning such a business. It was fun to watch them figure out just exactly who was stalking Alana (although I will admit I figured it out when that character was introduced). And holy moly, the sex. If you do not like sex scenes, you cannot read this book. They had me blushing at some parts. And while this is not total erotica, it certainly has some of those elements. And Chandler, who has had some more freaky tastes in the past (from what we know about him from books 1 and 2) really takes on a different way about him when it comes to being with Alana. He bowes to her needs and wants and what he thinks she needs. It's sweet and totally irresistible. Lynn infuses a sexy and steamy romance into a thrilling ride. I love her writing and how it flows so well. Her pacing is on key and you itch to know exactly where this book is going and how it will end. If you like hot sex scenes, banter, and overall swooniness, then you need to read Lynn's books. She has an amazing way of making you feel sexy and vulnerable and down right hot!

I have been waiting for Chandler's book for a while now! After seeing his and Alana's brief meeting in Chad's book, I could not wait to read their story as I knew it would be fun, sexy, and downright HOT! Pacing: I felt the pacing was great on this one. J.Lynn jumps right in with the attraction between Alana and Chandler, but it didn't feel forced at all. In fact, it was downright hot! Alana wants to hire him for his bodyguard services though- not his ah, other ones. Storyline: The storyline in this one was a lot of fun. Being in public relations and repairing self images, Alana Gore hasn't earned the best reputation. She's damn good at her job, but the way she has gone about it hasn't always been the gentlest. She blackmailed Bridget, Chad Gamble's now fiancé and hasn't quite been forgiven. After receiving threatening letters, she knows she has to do something as her safety is on the line. She gets in touch with the eldest Gamble brother to enlist his protection services. She goes to extreme lengths to track him down and I was dying laughing at how bold and brazen Alana is! Upon going to Chandler for his help, she knows a physical relationship with him would be highly inappropriate, but sometimes propriety be damned! The two get even closer as Alana's threats become more than just letters. Alana is quite headstrong and determined, but this stalker has got even her shaken up and Chandler won't let her endanger herself so he brings her to stay with him. I really like the suspense of finding out who was behind everything, even though I had my suspicions of who it was. Their attraction and sexual tension is off the charts, but Alana has some deeper issues that keep her from going all in with Chandler. Characters: I really enjoyed Alana and Chandler. Chandler was such a great guy and I am so glad we got his book because he deserves happiness too. He's not jaded like his brothers are. He doesn't let his parents crap relationship affect his own. He has chosen not to do serious relationships, not because he felt he wasn't good enough for one, but just because he hasn't found the right one to settle down with. However, meeting Alana has really been the game changer for him. He loves her no-nonsense attitude and that she's tough as nails. However, Alana has a vulnerable side as we see here. She's a runner, as she's afraid of ending up like her mother, who was obsessed with the idea of being in love- only to have it break her heart. Alana tries her best to keep Chandler from getting too close, but when Chandler wants something- he goes after it! Final Thoughts: I enjoyed this one a lot. I love how sexy and steamy the romance was and the storyline was engaging from start to finish. J.Lynn is one of my auto-buy authors, as the woman can do no wrong!

A Very Tempting Read You Will Not Want To Miss! Rating: 4 1/2 stars The story gets so hot and sexy that I had to open a window to cool things down. I love the language that this author used because it sets the tone of the friction between Alana and Chandler. And sometimes language just has to be a little “colorful”. As I get comfortable and immerse myself, I could almost hear our main characters talk to each other. I find that the more I like an author’s work; I can actually hear the conversations in my head. A great author will draw his/her readers into their story and not let you go until the last word is read. If this is your first contact with the Gamble brothers, and you haven’t had a chance to enjoy the other two books, why not tempt yourself and read Tempting the Best Man and Tempting the Player. I don’t see how you can go wrong by having this author in your library. I was tempted, are you?

Out of curiosity, I recently counted the number of JLA books I have read. That number is twenty five- holy crap twenty five! You would think that after that many books one would get tired of an author, but it just never happens. Each and every book of hers manages to grab me and hold me hostage. Tempting The Bodyguard was no exception. I was actually a bit surprised by how much I loved this book. I’m not sure why, but I didn’t think I would love this one as much as the others in this series. Well, I was completely wrong. Turns out Tempting The Bodyguard was my favorite of the three. I loved the way Alana and Chandler played off one another and the romance was off the charts. The steam!!! *fans self* It was incredibly hot. It may be her hottest book yet. However, there was also more to it. There was substance and character growth and a touch of danger. It all blended together to make the best Gamble Brothers book yet. I’m not going to lie; I was very leery about Alana. She was not the easiest character to like in Tempting The Player, and for good reason. I ended up loving Alana. I loved her determination and tenacity and I loved that underneath the façade she had flaws too. She was scared and commitment truly freaked her out. She latched on to her job and took it seriously because it was all she had. She didn’t believe in failing and that is something to be admired. It was interesting to have the woman be the one afraid of commitment, a bit of role reversal. Chandler is my new favorite Gamble brother. My gosh. I think it was just how determined he was. He wanted something and he went for it; that was it. He was not one to mess around or deny his feelings. He didn’t play games. He saw Alana and he liked her and that was that, he went after her. He was also fiercely protective and sweet and cocky, but charming. It was all very endearing. He didn’t let his parent’s mistakes affect him and he made his own way in life. He put his brothers in their place when necessary and he was always there for Alana when she needed him (even when she denied that she needed him; Miss Controlling that she is). Everything about him just combined to make a great guy. And I just cannot help myself from stating this next sentence: Chandler can guard my body any day. It was nice seeing the rest of the gang again and seeing how they are doing in life. Everyone is moving along and I just love seeing them living their happily ever after’s. I also loved that there was some mystery thrown in with the storyline. The focus was Chandler and Alana, but there was also the mystery of Alana’s stalker which gave the story just that much more. Tempting The Bodyguard was a great read and fans of the series will not be disappointed. Chandler and Alana have fantastic banter and fantastic chemistry. Do not miss this one.

We've had a wait for the third book in the Gamble Brothers, and Chandler was worth it, because of the three brothers, he has become my favourite. With his way with words and dominant protective yet understanding nature, there was very little not to love about the man. “Tell me you want this. Tell me you need this as badly as I do and you will not regret a second of this.” We met Alana in #2 as Chad's hard-nosed unpopular harpy of a publicist. A stubborn, organised commitment-phobe with a penchant for less than ladylike language, she has a stalker, and there is only one man she can think of turning to, Chandler. Beneath the steely façade is a scared woman and every one of Chandler's protective dominant instincts kick in, both inside and outside of the bedroom. “I want to look my fill, so when it’s later and I’m alone, all I have to do is close my eyes to see your body while I make myself come. Jennifer Armentrout has a habit of teasing her readers with plenty of build-up; I've read enough of her books to know that this is a regular occurrence. And whilst Chandler and Alana do embark on some fairly steamy (and repetitive) pre-deed shenanigans, the actual deed was a long time coming and I have to confess that when I got to 60% with nothing further than foreplay going down (pun intended), my brain was screaming get it on already. Their chemistry sizzled, but it was too drawn out; everything was squeezed into the last 40% and I felt the stalker element of the storyline fell flat - I had already sussed the culprit out way in advance. But I did enjoy their banter; Alana is snarky and snippy and gives Chandler a run for his money. I didn't expect him to be the gentle giant he was, I expected and would have liked his dominance to shine more, but his patience unleashes the true Alana and this brought the touching moments. It didn't blow me away but it's a good addition to the series. I received a copy of this courtesy of Entangled Publishing for an honest and unbiased opinion.

Have never felt compelled to write a review until now. All I can say is - please God, let there be a fourth Gamble brother out there that we haven't met yet! I read all three books in one week and I'm dying for more!! Smart writing with a "real" feel that I think you don't find with many romance writers. Highly recommend all three Gamble brothers books (in order, if you can, but still excellent reads regardless of order!)

## Another disappoinment by this author. I am mad at myself for buying this book. I hated the first two books in this series and didn't realize this was the third book. UGH. These Gamble men are awful. Chad and Chase were both arrogant ass*ole man-whores. And although Chandler is a tad (a small tad) better, he still left a lot to be desired. I definitely don't like stories that begin with the man having sex with someone else. And even though there was no penetration, it was clear he was about to 'do' her from behind when the heroine interupted. Speaking of 'from behind'....the sex was always from behind between these two. Why? It's like Chandler didn't want to look at her. And the heroines that Ms. Lynn writes are terrible as well. Bridget was so insecure with her weight issues overwhelming her; Maddie was a human doormat and let Chase treat her like dirt and this heroine Alana was cold and had zero personality. Don't waste your money on this inconsequential series. I wish I hadn't..
