Ten Days in a Mad-house by Nellie Bly

Nelly Bly, posing as "Nelly Brown," went undercover to investigate the deplorable conditions of insane asylums. Her memoirs of this event form the basis of "Ten Days in a Mad-House," which forever changed the way the world looks at treatment and housing of the insane.

Incredibly shocking to see how women were treated in the 1800s. We've come a long way, but still room for improvement. How scary how easily it was for a woman to get committed for insanity, then to endure such a hell hole.

I love reading historical stuff and this was really interesting. To see from her eyes what would have been something scary to go through is amazing.
