From the moment I saw front cover I fell in love with this book, then upon reading this fun crazy sled ride, I was even more in love with it. The artwork on this book is vivid and detailed. Liza Woodruff truly captured the images of each animal as if they were real. I have to say that the Moose is my favorite and Lee Lee loves the Seal & Walrus. But really the animals are so cute. The story flows very well together and makes it fun to read out loud. I love reading it to her every night. I also love how the book helps teach your child to count while laughing at each animal as they fall off the sled. We also learn that playing alone is no fun, and the Caribou has his friends join him again to play at the end of the book. I think this is a perfect Holiday book for your family. It's cute, a quick read, and makes you feel all warm and wintery. --------------------- I received a free sample to facilitate my review. Don't quite understand the complaint that this a "small book." The dimensions are larger than most of the picture books I own (I'm a kindergarten teacher with a ton of them) and it has the same number of pages as all the other books on my shelf. And besides, it's GORGEOUS. Love the clever twist on the old song "Ten on the Bed" with the added excitement of a race. My students were familiar with the song, so they recognized the pattern and took it to heart like a beloved classic the first time I read it. They giggled at Liza Woodruff's hilarious illustrations while learning about counting, alliteration and arctic animals. We'll keep reading this one throughout the winter.

This picture book is a must have for every child's bookshelves. Norman's adapation is charming. The alliteration of the animal names with their actions is perfectly placed and the cumulative aspect of the story makes it a fun read aloud sure to be requested over and over again. Woodruff's illustrations are truly beautiful artwork. TEN ON THE SLED will become a classic to be cherished by generations. This book is a fun story with such visual beauty that no adult will mind reading it again -- and again!

What child can resist the "ten on a bed" story, especially when it's been adapted with incredible cleverness and finesse into a winter story with winter animals? Norman's spot-on rhyme and Woodruff's amazing illustrations make this take on an old standard absolutely appealing to young and old. And it's perfectly timed to hold young readers riveted from start to finish, ending just before squirm time sets in. Don't spend another winter without this book - it's a fantastic ride!

Beautifully illustrated in watercolor, pastels, and colored pencil, the pages seem to come alive while reading this take off of Ten on the Bed. I love the setting choice, "the moonlit land of the midnight sun", hence the choice of animals. That could be a learning lesson for primary students. The large colorful animated illustrations, along with Gramma singing the words, captured the attention of my 9 month old granddaughter.

I am disappointed with this book. The only option is to read it to your child. We do read all the time to our children, however I like the books on my i-pad when we are traveling and they can be read to while I am driving. I thought this book would be cute and the kids would enjoy the sing-song of the book.
