This volume, first published in 1990 and reprinted here with over 400 illustrations in colour, primarily drawn from the superb textile collection of the National Gallery of Australia, remains the definitive work on Southeast Asian textiles. It is a major reference for the study of Southeast Asian art and of the Asian textile collections of many leading ethnographic museums in Europe, the USA and Southeast Asia. Dr Robyn Maxwell was educated at Monash University and the University of Melbourne. She is currently Senior Curator of Asian Art at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, and a senior lecturer in Art History at the Australian National University. She has organized a number of exhibitions and published widely on Southeast Asian art.
