About the Author

Mirko Marjanovic is a novelist, storyteller, poet, literary and art critic and publisher. He was born in Tramosnica Gornja (Bosanska Posavina, Bosnia and Herzegovina) in 1940 and studied at Tramosnica Gornja (Primary School), Gradacac (High School) and Sarajevo, where he graduated with a degree in the Arts. His stories have been selected in many anthologies, reviews and special editions and have been translated into Italian, German, Spanish, English, Polish and Turkish. Published books: In the Name of the Father and of the Son, novel, 1969; The Centre, short stories, 1973; History of a Lost Soul, novel, 1980; Brothers, novel, 1983; Water Flows the Way It Flows, selection of fiction, 1984; The Sound of Wild Horses, novel, 1989; second edition 2002; Living Death, Sarajevo war diary, 1996; FRA PETAR PERICA VIDIC, monography on paintings (in Croatian, English, German and Italian; second updated edition, in Croatian and English, 2004); Third World War, texts on war, reviews, poems, dialogues, 1999; Smile Even When You Are Crying, novel, 2000; Lexicon of Croatian Writers in Bosnia and Herzegovina from Ancient Times until the Present, lexicon, 2001; The Keeper of the Family Cathedral, short stories, 2011; Notes on Books and Pictures, literary and art reviews, 2012. The author remained in Sarajevo throughout the war (1992-5), and has continued to live there since.
