A modern way of finding love. One deserted island of luxury. Two people. Three get out of jail free cards. And a whole lot of possibilities.

Melinda takes the advice of her best friend, Chris. She signs up to a new dating service that pairs you statistically to the one you're supposed to love. Finding it — love that is — using the more conventional methods, has not been a successful venture for Mindy, and with her biological clock ticking, she uses a more desperate method and takes the plunge into a possible happily ever after.

The thing is, when she boards the boat to a secret location, she doesn't realise the man waiting for her is someone she's previously met.

Chance encounters occur more frequently than we realise. Being blind to them is part of a bustling world. But, being faced with them can lead to a hilarious three weeks between two opposites who might just attract.

This was a great book! It has all the right amount of Romance + Comedy without being "Too Much" of either one. When I first started reading this book, I was a little skeptical and wasn't sure if I would like it or not. But then after reading awhile, I couldn't put it down. This book proves that Belle has a very creative mind and can write almost anything. I am so glad her characters chose her mind to invade, and even more glad that she chooses to share her mind with all of us! Thank you Belle!!

This is an unusual romantic comedy from Belle Brookes, told from the point of view of the female lead Mindy. Mindy is an attractive woman, with curves to die for. Mindy lives in Melbourne with only her best friend Chris and her cat fletcher for company. Mindy is a disaster around men, she is always so nervous she babbles. Sometimes I wanted to say get a grip, she was a lost cause. Then she meets Arlie who Mindy feels he is so hot he can’t possibly be interested. This starts a comedy of epic proportions as their relationship starts its dance. This is a feel good fun loving read once it gets going. I do think making Mindy such a clutz was slightly overdone for me. I did love Arlie, he was a great bloke. Watching them falling in love was entertaining. I not saying anymore because I don’t want to spoil it.

I love these two and their humor. It truly was a laughing out loud reading experience. She is not only physically clumsy, especially when uncomfortable but she is socially clumsy as well until him. Her bestie Chris is flamboyant and off the charts but also encourages her to return. He wants love and a chance encounter with her gives him the chance he has hungered for. This is a once in a lifetime experience and she will have to push her boundaries in all areas to open up to that guy. It's fun and I do mean laugh out loud fun and well written as this author is known for but the ending feels rushed. How do you go through that and not get answers first. With that being said from what I see I am the majority in that because it really was a good read.

Miss Belle Brooks has done it again. She has proven time after time she can write anything and scan switch between genres with the ease of a seasoned author. She’s given us contemporary, romance and thrillers and now a hilarious comedy that I ended up laughing so much, I had to stop reading on my breaks. I connected with Mindy in such a way, I wonder if Belle was writing my life. A lot clumsy a little socially awkward and I really really want a Chris in my life! I wanted to know a little more about Arlie, but I liked how he was a good hero and how he got Mindy to come out of her shell. This a fun and hilarious read and I think anyone will enjoy it if they love the romcom type of reading. PS...Bella Belle, please write more Chris, I can’t be without him too long!

4.5 stars That Guy left me with a great big grin on my face at the ending. Belle Brookes really can do all genres! I loved her ugly cry... Always You, her suspenseful Game of Life series and everything in between... and I was not disappointed in her entrance into the Rom-vom genre ! I'm not one for literally laughing out loud very often so don't set the stall by me as you can see plenty of reviews show this as laugh out loud funny, but I did find the story smirk-worthy on a number of occasions. More noteworthy is the feel good factor of this story.. ditsy, never-dated, clumsy, near 30 year old meets hot-as-hell male and actually finds she can talk to him and relax.. a first in her books !!  Then following a dare by her gay bestie Chris, who I LOVED (everyone really does need a Chris-where can i find me one?!), she enters a tv reality show to try to find love.. so well yeah anymore I say may contain spoilers so I'll leave it there but suffice to say after a few twists and turns and some hilarious escapades Mindy realises that maybe just maybe love is hers to find !!

Belle Brooks deserves all the stars! If you haven't read her books before and love rom-com this book! It's beautifully written, hilarious and sweet. You can't help but fall in love with these characters and the story. I have been waiting for this book and it was so much more than I expected. I read and adored her Game of Life Series and Winner. I swear Belle can write anything and nail it. Not every author can achieve that. I am so impressed. I love her style of funny. Sometimes you need a good belly aching laugh. I especially relate to a bit of self deprecating internal dialogue. I even re-read some of my favorite scenes and still cracked up. Loved every word! My fingers are crossed for more unique, hysterical, feel good stories like this in the near future!

omg Belle Brooks did it again! she has proven she can write any genre! This rom/com was funny as shit, full of love, a clumsy chick and a hot guy! Let's not forget the gay bestie Chris! I laughted out loud and my family all looked at me like I was loco. I had to explain it was the book making me act that way. LOL Mindy can't get out a word in front of a man but she sure can stare at them. She meets Arlie in a few places and manages to get 2 words together to make a small conversation. Her friend Chris talks her into filling out a form for a Bachelor type of reality TV show. She is picked and when she gets to the island, there is Arlie! No more spoilers for you! Go read the book! The stuff that happens is hysterical and you won't want to miss this epic love story!

Oh how I've been in a book funk! This is just what I needed to snap me out of it. I absolutely adored this book! What a fun, comical summer read. I just love Arlie and Mindy. Some of the things that came out of that girl's mouth had me rolling with laughter! Definitely recommend if you are looking for a light, hysterical romance! Brianne C

4 Stars Review by Amy W. Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog Hilariously entertaining!!! That Guy by Belle Brooks is one funny read that will have you flipping pages just to see what impossible situation Mindy will get into next. Mindy is socially awkward, clumsy and has the worst experiences with the opposite sex. Her BFF's solution? Online dating. But can true love really be found through a dating site? I need a holiday. I need a holiday with the man I've just stalked for nine aisles. Mindy is me. I freaking swear to you I felt a kinship with her from the beginning with that cake/ shopping experience. This book was one that I just couldn't put down. It was witty and funny, but above all it was relatable. If you are looking for something that will put a smile on your face, this is the book for you.

That Guy is hilarious. It's basically a romcom script. I don't normally do romcoms. They just don't click with me, but well, anything by Belle Brooks is gold. This is one versatile author. First she made me cry, then she made me love so hard, then she messed with my m ind, now she made me laugh when I normally don't. I could so see this as a type of movie you gather the girls for and pack the theater. Seriously, it's like a movie only with words. Mindy's adventures in romance had me shaking my head, choking on my water, and it was just fun. It's light hearted. Perfect for those last few beach days.

This is such a funny book, I loved every minute of it. I was getting weird looks from my husband while reading this, cause I was laughing so hard. Melinda and Arlie are destined to be together, They just don't know it yet. But a little help from fate and a reality TV show, they will soon see that they should be together. I don't think there is a genre that Belle Brooks can't write. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

I won a copy of this book in a contest. I was very sick with strep throat and a sinus infection, feeling miserable and cooped up in bed. I decided I needed a pick me up so I started to read That Guy. I absolutely loved it! At times I was laughing out loud so hard I would end up in a coughing fit with tears running down my face. The characters are all wonderful, especially Chris. I SO wish I had a friend like Chris in my life. Also, I don’t know if I can ever look at KFC the same way ever again! If you love a funny, light hearted rom-com with sassy, funny and sexy characters, then this is truly the book for you.

What a Hilarious yet Delightful Story. I love when I find a book that is funny, crazy good and simply entertaining, and that is exactly what “That Guy” was for me. It’s a fast paced, funny romance rolled up into a great storyline. The book is very well written and will keep you smiling from chapter to chapter. As for the characters, the author has done an outstanding job there as well. As a reader we feel their plights in life and share their emotions right along with them. One thing I will say, whomever Ms. Brooks based Melinda’s Bestie Chris on, is one guy I would love to meet. The boy is a hoot and a half and I think every woman in the world needs a guy like Chris in her corner (Flying Dildo’s and all). All Melinda wants is a chance to meet a nice guy and be loved. She’s about to turn thirty, she a clutz and trust me if it can go wrong, it’s going to go wrong to Melinda. After a horrible blind date, and a few very embarrassing encounters with a sexy stranger named Arlie, Melinda has all but given up on finding a boyfriend let alone true love. But her Bestie, Chris, has her sign up for a reality show: 3 weeks on a deserted island with the supposed match of her dreams. Needless to say, Melinda wins and is whisked off to paradise, only to find the guy they’ve matched her with is none other than the sexy Arlie. Let the fun begin. If you like fast pace RomComs, “That Guy” is definitely a must read. I can’t recommend it enough. Just be prepared for people to look at you funny while reading this one, because you’ll be smiling, laughing out loud and crying OMG every step of the way. 2 Thumbs up for a great read.

4.5 STARS!!! That Guy was a laugh out loud fun Rom Com. This was a very entertaining and hilarious beach type read. Arlie and Mindy were awesome characters. I loved that Arlie, the gorgeous fit gym guy meets Melinda, the clumsy out of shape weird girl. The storyline was awesome and so easy to read. The quirky lines that stay with you after reading. And you can’t forget Chris the best friend you all would love to have! I definitely recommend this Rom Com!

That Guy by Belle Brooks will having you laughing so hard you will have tears in your eyes. Oh and lord have mercy how I would love to have a Chris in my life! Mindy who after being humiliated in high school swears off guys and puts all her energy into becoming a doctor. Unfortunately something happens and she stops practicing being a doctor and moves to Melbourne where she becomes BFF with Chris. He signs her up on a dating site which leads to her signing up for a TV show called Perfect Catch. Three weeks on a desert island brought so many twist, turns and laugh out loud moments of flying rainbow vibrators, jellyfish, Miss Priscilla, KFC and snakes on my! Absolutely loved everything about this book that I read it again. Still laughing ? ??????????????

Well, what can I say except. OMG, I can’t help myself. That was so freaking hilarious and my face hurts from laughing so much. Arlie and Mindy was just two people minding their own business when they first met, but Arlie was attracted to the kluzy woman and wanted to get to know her better. The lengths he went to in order to accomplish this were just so damn funny. There’s more to this hot gym owner than meets the eye, and believe me, what meets the eye is so freaking hot. Mindy works as a receptionist at an escort agency and hates her job, it’s not what she’d love to be doing, but that’s another story. She sees an ad to take part in a new ‘love show’ and soon finds herself on a tropical island… with Arlie. He’s not who she expected to find there. Arlie was quite a mystery right up until the last few chapters, even though we got to heard about some of his past. He was super sexy and very patient with Mindy and all her hangups about her own past and her looks. She was a normal everyday girl and Arlie was hot as sin, so naturally she thought he was out of her league. Arlie didn’t think so and the way he went about winning Mindy’s heart was pretty awesome. Their chemistry was undeniable, even from their first meeting, but this was a slow burner and it took a fair while for them to get their kits off. But that didn’t stop me from loving this one.

Fun and romantic I quickly came to like "Mindy" (Melinda) as the story is told from her point of view, and it definitely works. She's fun, quirky, and shares her moments and inner most thoughts, perfectly. The thoughts that no one would dare say out loud. I love her friendship with Chris. It just works. This story is fun, and romantic, and I absolutely loved it. I really liked her bouts of "first dates." Brooks always pens a good story, and I think this may be one of my favorites by this wonderful author. The characters have a great chemistry and I like that there is a back story that lends to the type of characters they are. I love how she describes her best friend, and eyes (or pervs) men's backsides. It's a great story, I read from beginning to end.

This was not the typical Belle Brooks book in my opinion, but then again Belle has always written different genre's. I will say true to her writing style there is a twist in here you never see coming. This is a quick, light hearted, funny rom-com. Melinda is a quirky, sensitive, funny young girl who is trying to figure out where her life is going at almost 30. Her only friend is her outgoing and outspoken very gay friend Chris, who by the way I hope gets a book of his own because he was a great character! He signs her up for a dating app to help her get get of her shell. It takes an unexpected turn when she meets the mysterious Arlie. There was alot of Aussie slang in the begining so it started a little slow for me being from the U.S but I kept with it and I'm so glad I did. If you're looking for a light read to make you smile and laugh this is one for you!

I have to say I read this when I was really sick and could hardly breathe! Thank goodness I had this book to cheer me up because it is a true romantic comedy that does make you laugh..well okay..for me it was wheeze, cough and splutter..but the same thing! At first you think this woman’s life can’t get any worse then she goes on a blind date from hell! Even though Melinda is not batting a high average or even an average of any sort in the dating department she is determined to find her ‘Forever man’ and valiantly moves forward with the help of her best friend, Chris. Chris is such a fun character and one that really does radiate sunshine and sparkles. Honestly, he is a huge part of the humorous element and I could read about him all day long. Mindy, is very self demeaning. She has a past that has shaped her like this but it’s hard to read her putting herself down even in a joking manner. She is an extremely likeable character so you can’t help but feel protective of her, even from the barbs she shoots at herself. One of the funniest parts was the way she describes how her beaver, called..Miss Priscilla ..doesn’t like to roam free and hang loose! Too funny, such a fabulous way with words. Then there is this... “Is Arlie a food artist who makes your tongue orgasm and your stomach want to light up an orgasmic cigarette after digestion?” A fun, light touch that aids the storytelling. This light romance is very sweet and loads of fun, easy to read and leaves you feeling fantastic.

This is so vastly different from Belle Brooks' most recent work, a real romcom! Mindy and Arlie however would be nothing without Mindy's flamboyantly gay best friend, Chris. Mindy is fast approaching 30 and has never had a boyfriend. She has had drunken hook ups but has never had a relationship. Arlie is a gym owner and house shares with a number of friends. It would spoil the magic to reveal how these two end up together so you just have to read it yourself! There is no doubt that you'll laugh alongside the characters in this book and you will certainly 'want' a Chris of your own. I'm hoping that Belle has more up her sleeve for the characters we've met in this book. We need Chris' story for sure!

What an amazing book. This is the first rom-com I have ever read and I loved every word. the author has managed to keep me laughing Non-Stop from start to finish. I had to put the book down a couple times because my side was hurting from laughing so much. If you are looking for something laugh out loud funny that will keep you turning the pages until the end then this is the book for you.

Romcom at it finest... ...loved this book, it had me giggling, laughing out loud, and swooning... Chris love this man! He is hysterical, genuine, loyal and the best friend everyone needs! Melinda seems to have a gift to find herself into to most awkward situations.. the banter, surprises, and over all make you smile book..
