Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
The furry creature on the cover purports to be a reindeer, but if it was not for the snow and snowflakes and the title of the book, it might be any member of the cervidae family. The book is set up to feature various body parts and to include characteristics as well as tactile reinforcement. To illustrate—"That is not my reindeer. It's ears are too velvety." The brown ears do have a velvet texture but it is a little difficult to feel the difference between the furry body, velvet ears, and hairy tail. Finally on the last spread, the shiny red nose identifies little mouse's very own reindeer. Watch for the little mouse in each scene decked out in a knitted hat and scarf. Even though this book has more of a seasonal theme and might be even more fun to read after listening to "Rudolph, the red Nosed Reindeer" it can entertain all year long. Part of the "Usborne touch-feely books" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

Both my children love the books in this touch and feel series. Uses nice decriptive language to describe the textures. Pretty illustrations, nice colors. They used to make this series in Spanish, now out of print. It's a shame they stopped making the Spanish ones.

This is one of a whole series of "That's not my...." books. My daughter really loves these! We first found one when she was about 20 months (That's not my train) & she still loves them now at age 4 1/2. I love to give these as gifts too!

Our nine-month-old daughter loved this book and so did we. It's a touch-and-feel book with darling illustrations and text, and it's a book that would be great for babies or toddlers. We'll definitely be pulling it out again next Christmas.

I bought this book for my five month old. She is still more interested in chewing on the book than reading and touching the pages, but she is intrigued by the silver foil stars on the backgrounds. This book is sturdy and the bright illustrations will make it a great book to bring out every holiday!
