The 1947 Freedom Train by Kathy Maggart and Kathy Eidson is a fictional story about a historical event. It's purpose is to teach kids about the freedom we have in the United States and to treat everyone with respect. It is told in a story like fashion where the grandfather is sharing his experience of being able to see important United States documents on the Freedom Train in 1947. The kids get excited and create their own freedom train to share the message with their friends. At the back of the book there are questions that you can ask kids as future discussion topics. I would highly recommend this book for children and families. It's an event I wasn't aware of that I think kids should know about. I received this book at the International Christian Retail Show. I was not required to write a positive review. You can see my full review at More Than a Review dot com where I rate the level of sex, violence, language and drug/alcohol use in books.
