The 48 Hour Hookup by Sarah Ballance

Who knew a sweaty photo would be good for business?

Now unwanted booty calls are coming in as fast as work orders, and Liam Chase needs to get away. Cue a job upstate. His new client is hot as hell, but he left NYC to escape attention, not to hook up with the city’s “Runaway Bride”.

With three disastrous relationships under her belt, it’s clear Claire Stevens’s judgment sucks. And what’s she’s feeling for America’s newest sex god? Obviously another hormone-fueled mistake.

But when she accidentally fells a tree on his truck, leaving them stranded in a winter storm with a chocolate-snatching raccoon, there’s something to be said for body heat.

Too bad neither can trust their explosive chemistry…

She was hiding he was working. Both left a past they really wanted to forget. Stuck in a storm and what a way to go. They fight their attraction for all the right reasons until they could fight it no longer. Funny, and sexy for all the right reasons. This author shows she has a witty and fun side with this book. Fun insta-love standalone read.

This was a cute read. I haven't read any of the Chase Brothers series & this can be read as a stand alone. I liked this book but at times it moved a little slow for me. There were some really adorable moments, the raccoon was so funny! Liam & Claire are an adorable couple but they had some moments that just seemed confusing. Over all an enjoyable read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Claire is a tv news reporter who has a good reason to be a little cynical of men after her most recent failed relationships blew up in her face. She caught her soon-to-be husband with his pants down with the caterer right before their ceremony, then found out the second guy she trusted and was going to marry was only with her to further his career. Since then she has been referred to as "The Runaway Bride". Liam has his own version of viral fame. While out on a job as a HVAC repairman, someone snapped a picture of him looking "hot and sweaty", and has since been dubbed the "Hot HVAC Guy". The fame has been driving him and his family crazy with fake repair calls. When a call that will take him out of the area comes in, he jumps at the chance to get away for a while, and Claire ends up being the client. They are both very attracted to each other, but agree that nothing can happen between them because it would just cause another media sensation if people saw them together. I thought the story started to drag a little bit at this point, and at times I found Liam to be maybe a little too awkward. I don't know if it was just him or if it was them together but something just seemed "off" to me sometimes. Liam had really sweet moments with Claire, but also plenty of moments where he puts his foot in his mouth or made me want to shake him for being a dummy. This would be a great read for right before Christmas. It was a nice end to the Chase Brother's series too. It sort of wraps everything up in a way. This book is #4 in the series but each book can be read as a stand alone. ** I received an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. **

Such a fun romance! I can't even tell you how many times I laughed out loud while reading this one--there may have been some snort-laughing involved as well, but I'll never tell. The manicurist must have thought I was laughing at the TV (as if!) because every time I giggled while he was doing my nails he'd glance up at the screen. But no, it was Liam. Or Claire. Or Stanley, the bandit raccoon. Or some combination of the three. Really, they had me at the chainsaw-tree-truck incident. And then add in how socially awkward the two of them were so much of the time and I was a total goner. I love, love, love reading from the POVs of people who mentally second-guess themselves even more than I do...it makes me feel almost normal ;) And Ms. Ballance has a real flair for writing that type of character. Hmmmm... :) I absolutely loved the dynamics of the Chase family--both those born into it and those who married in/are about to marry in. So much fun! Liam and his brothers were just fantastic together, whether in person or long distance (when they all went in and bought him a stuffed raccoon--even though as we found out later, they didn't all realize why they were doing it--LOL!) and add in everyone else and you know it's going to be one heck of a time! I've still only read this one and Ethan's book ( The Three-Week Arrangement ) in the series; they did work fine on their own, but OMG I seriously love those guys so much in their brothers' books that I really need to read Sawyer and Crosby's stories sooner rather than later. In the meantime, if I suddenly burst into giggles this week, you can bet it's probably because I'm remembering something that the "Runaway Bride" or the "Hot HVAC Guy" did... Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A- I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love, love, loved this book! It's my first read from Sarah Ballance and my biggest question is why? The 48-hour Hookup is the fourth book in her Chase Brothers series and I'm wondering why I'm just now hearing about it. Where were all my reader friends? This story was laugh-out-loud funny, very romantic, had a few twists and turns to keep me guessing, extremely likable main characters, and perfect pacing... keeping my attention from the beginning to the end. I admit the hero was swoon-worthy. Clearly he wasn't given the nickname hot HVAC guy for nothing. But I love that instead of being the typical cocky player, Liam Chase was embarrassed by all the attention he was receiving. One sweaty, bare-chested photo might have been enough to go viral causing women all over the country to be lusting after him, but in truth he's mostly a shy, somewhat introverted man who openly admits he has no game when it comes to women. I found this adorable and when combined with the fact he was a gentleman, kind, and quite witty when compelled by a situation, I could easily see how it would be impossible to resist his attractiveness. Likewise Claire Stevens is also a media sensation, having publicly broken up with three men in a row, she's been unfairly nicknamed The Runaway Bride. She's hiding out in the remote mountain lodge she inherited from her uncle hoping to avoid the public long enough that she can go back to her a television personality reporting the news instead of being the news. She's certainly not looking to gain attention or get involved with another man. When Claire needs to hire a contractor to repair the heating system in the lodge she has no idea she's hired the hot HVAC guy or that the very first thing she will do is drop a huge pine tree on his truck right before a snowstorm which forces them to spend a few days stranded and alone together. One hilarious thing after another happens to these two, including the invasion of a raccoon they named Stanley. I don't want to give up spoilers so I'll just say this story was amazing... well-written, romantic, sexy, light-hearted, and let me just say one more time. Hilarious. And now it's time for me to read up a little on those other Chase Brothers! 5 stars ~Complimentary copy downloaded from NetGalley for the purpose of a honest review.

A must read if you're looking for a fun, sexy read! I was smiling the entire time, except of course for the parts where Liam was incredibly stubborn and stupid. But he was also super sweet and did this for Claire that showed he really cared even though it was only supposed to be a casual fling. And I can't forget about their pet raccoon - he was a cute addition to the family! I've really enjoyed this series and I'm sad to see it end. I received an ARC via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

Liam Chase hates his notoriety. Being "Hot HVAC Guy" is driving him crazy. He wants his life back. When his brothers send him on a service call far away from the city, he thinks he's escaped. Little does he know that his life is going to get crazier. Claire Stevens AKA "Runaway Bride" needs her furnace in working order, but she doesn't trust the only company in her small town so she calls Fusion Air. When these two meet hilarity and romance ensue. I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time. Liam is no smooth talker and ends up feeling sheepish when his flirting bombs. I loved this about him. Plus he's a good and caring man. He even saves Claire from a chocolate stealing raccoon. What a man! Claire is tired of being made fun of. Her taste in men may be suspect but it doesn't deserve all this attention. She wants to report the news not make it. Their attraction is immediate and made smile. I wanted a HEA. I hated that they worried about the media attention. I love all the Chase Brothers and their romantic escapades. Sarah Ballance has the perfect touch for romantic comedy. The misadventure on the sleigh ride broke me up. I laughed so hard that I was crying. The dialogue is sassy and smart as well as touching and romantic. Definitely being trapped by a blizzard has it's advantages. I loved The 48-Hour Hookup. This story left me with a smile on my face. I received a copy in exchange for an honest and unscripted review.

This was a fun light hearted read about two normal everyday people unfortunately caught in media frenzied crazy publicity. I could not imagine having that problem. I liked them together and how their togetherness seemed to help Claire trust again. I loved Liam's stumbling over flirting. It could be my own corny sense of humor, but I thought he was adorable. Although he did make me sad at a key moment, he made up for it in spades. Grab your tissues for the last chapter and the sweet funny epilogue. Such a great end to a very hot, fun, sweet, sarcastic witty family. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

3.5 stars The 48-Hour Hookup was a fun, sweet and entertaining read. The characters were likable, endearing and kept me turning the pages with their story. I liked Liam and Claire together, they made a cute couple who found love when they least expected it. The epilogue left me with a heart full of feels as we got to enjoy the Chase brothers one last time. Overall The 48-Hour Hookup is a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The Chase Brothers series has been a sweet, fun and entertaining read. I've enjoyed watching all the Chase brothers find their perfect partner and their happily ever after. I'm sad to see the series end.

Finally it's Liam's turn! The fourth of the Chase brothers finds his match in a sweet and sexy story with a 'we're trapped in a snowstorm, whatever will we do to pass the time!' theme. Liam's sudden bout of internet fame due to a chance photo tagging him as the 'Hot HVAC Guy' has resulted in far too much unwanted attention for him and the family business so an out of town call to check out a ski lodge is what he needs for a little privacy. He doesn't expect to run into another unhappy internet celebrity - the Runaway Bride, Claire, who had the misfortune of leaving her third man at the altar (all for good reasons!). Her television journalism job means her face is familiar to the public and she can't wait for her fifteen minutes of fame to be over and done with. But meanwhile she's hiding out at the family lodge, bequeathed to her from her uncle. When Liam arrives, an unfortunate tree falling incident puts his truck out of commission, followed quickly by a snowstorm bad enough to keep them stranded. Both in hiding, they've got no choice but to make the best of things and so they do, slowly opening up to each other in the process and trying but failing to ignore the sexual attraction between them. They share some sexy scenes together, yet Liam's awkward ways with women have him putting his foot in his mouth more than once. They both acknowledge that the relationship of sorts they've built won't be sustainable back in the city, but it doesn't stop them from soon realizing that things without each other aren't so great either. We get a sweet happy ending for them that brings the whole family together. It's an enjoyable and entertaining story, with some laugh out loud scenes, and it was great to see the other brothers and their partners make some cameos. The Chase brothers series remains among my favorites!

Simply Perfect!!! “Am I allowed to laugh at this?” Yes. Yes I am. Sarah Ballance has written a LOL love story which made me laugh more than I thought was possible. From start to finish The 48-Hour Hookup was the p-e-r-f-e-c-t read! I’ve wanted to read Sarah Ballance and her Chase Brothers series for awhile now. Silly me just never took the time to do so, though I have purchased all the books in the series. Yes, I’m a book hoarder. So, she was always on my one day read list. Well, that one day has arrived with The 48-Hour Hookup. I didn't even bother to read the blurb, I just went into reading blind. I love the stranded together due to weather storylines. Plus, the storyline played out along the lines of one of my favorite movies, The Runaway Bride. I don’t know what to say about this book, except it’s everything I wanted in a romance. The characters are easy for fall in love with. **Received a copy from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest unbiased opinion.**

The end of the Chase Brothers is a very sad moment . Liam's story is a good one, full of humor, serious moments and a bit of sexy time. Liam is a disaster with speaking to females. open mouth, insert foot type. He's adorable and funny in that awkwardness. I really love his character and all the awesome things Hot HVAC guy does. Claire has terrible luck with weddings and winter sports. she's a strong woman, not willing to put up with second best, hence dubbed "runaway bride". The hilarious drama that happens throughout the story will leave you with tears from laughing. it also contains enough heartfelt moments to make this a great romantic comedy.

This is another great read by Sarah Ballance. This story was funny, sweet, and hot! I couldn't put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. "The 48-Hour Hookup" by Sarah Ballance is book number four in the "Chase Brothers" series. This can also be read as a standalone too. This is Liam Chase and Claire Stevens' story. Liam and Claire have things that they both are working through. Their first time meeting was so funny. Will they take a chance on love? One thing for sure is there is amazing chemistry between them. Get cozy and sit back and enjoy Liam and Claire's story. You will enjoy the addition of Stanley too. FYI, includes mature content. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a n honest review.

Argh, how to start this review? I like Sarah Ballance novels, yet I have to confess "like" is an average of "adore" and "heartily dislike", this one, however, fell squarely into the "like" middle-zone. The premise sounded a lot of fun. Claire Steven's, famous as the TV newscaster who left two men at the altar and consequently known as "The Runaway Bride" has holed up in her family's old upstate resort which has fallen into disrepair after her uncle's death to avoid the press commentary and a tell-all expose by her latest ex. When her boiler stops working a few days before Christmas she calls a New York plumbing firm, not realising that the man coming to fix her boiler is none other than the notorious "Hot HVAC Guy". Liam Chase's life has been hell ever since a photo of him was snapped, hot and sweaty without his shirt, now labelled Hot HVAC Guy his family HVAC business has been inundated with women (and some men) calling for more than just boiler repairs. An introvert with little ability to charm the ladies, Liam finds it all distressing and jumps at the opportunity to fix a broken boiler upstate. When Liam arrives, Claire is chopping down a Christmas tree to put in the cavernous hallway of the resort, a tree which falls on Liam's truck. As the snow fall gets heavier Hot HVAC Guy and The Runaway Bride find they have a lot more than just notoriety in common. Maybe I should have read this closer to Christmas. Maybe I should have read the previous Chase brother books and then this would have felt like a suitable schmaltzy end to a series. This just felt a little too Christmas Special, too cutesy and too Hallmark for what still feels like Summer here in the UK. An enjoyable read but save it for closer to Christmas. I received a free copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

The 48-Hour Hookup by Sarah Ballance....Another great book from this amazing author. This story is so sweet, fun and very enjoyable, you can not put it down. Can you say new book boyfriend, nobody writes a book boyfriend like Sarah, so if you are looking, here is Liam. Liam and Claire both have pasts that they need to work through, but their chemistry is off the charts. Sarah Ballance is one of my top five authors and I know she will be yours as well if you read this book. I was given a complimentary book by publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

I love books about a couple being trapped by themselves due to bad weather, especially when the weather happens to be a snowstorm. Being stranded without any phones or power is romantic and entertaining setting. The main characters in this book are very attracted to each other from the moment they meet, and their desire only increases as the story progresses. Claire Stevens is an established New York City TV journalist. However, these days she is best known for leaving a fiancee or two at the altar. Getting out of town is just what she needs to reevaluate her career and keep the paparazzi away. She ends up at the mountain lodge she inherited from her late uncle. The lodge needs a lot of work, including HVAC. Liam Chase, co-owner of Fusion Air, agrees to provide an estimate and make the trek from NYC to the mountains. He is not thrilled about the long ride, however, he needs to get out of the city as well. Liam is being hounded by women everywhere, because a a sweaty photo of him with a clever caption was posted to social media. So Claire and Liam are stuck with each other until the storm ends. The 48-Hour Hookup by Sarah Ballance was just an okay read for me. There is a lot going on in this story, and there are some very funny moments. However, I found the pace to be extremely slow, which made it difficult for me to remain focused. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

claire stevens and liam chase didn't set out to become memes. but after claire earns the reputation of a runaway bride after calling off two weddings, and after liam earns instant internet popularity as hot hvac guy when an ill-timed picture goes viral, they don't really have any say about it. after all once it's out on the internet there is no taking it back. but when their attempts to avoid the city put them in each other's orbit they know that laying low will become problematic. after all the headlines write themselves, see "hot hvac guy keeps bride from running" for example. even worse, they can't really keep their hands off each other. from the moment they meet, a moment that involves a tree crushing liam's truck by the way, there are sparks. when you add in a hungry raccoon named stanley, a sudden snowstorm, a broken down furnace, and a little bittersweet holiday spirit, you have the perfect recipe for a lighthearted holiday romance. the 48-hour hookup is also the last in the chase brothers series, i haven't read the books that came before, but i can only imagine they are equally as light-hearted and fun. liam and claire have plenty of chemistry and even though i haven't seen the brothers interact before this novel you get a good sense of the chase family in this one. and they seem like a fun group to be around. **the 48-hour hookup is scheduled to publish on september 12, 2016. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (lovestruck) in exchange for my honest review.

The 48-Hour Hookup is part of a series, however, I hadn't read the previous books in the series and don't feel this hindered my reading of this book so would say this could definitely be read as a S/A. Liam and Claire are infamous in their own rights but happen upon each when they get trapped in by a snow storm. Each of them has their own quibbles and for me they are both pretty solid and likeable characters with some steamy chemistry. The story was fun and romantic and there was some really funny moments that had me chuckling away. Overall, this was a really charming and cute read and I enjoyed it. I'm personally a sucker for reading holiday books and as this was set around Christmas, I would happily read it again around that time to get me into the spirit. 3.5 stars I was provide a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

"The 48-Hour Hookup" is a slow building romance about two people who have become famous for all the wrong reasons. Liam is the "Hot HVAC guy" who had his photo thrown around the internet by a client, resulting in a ton of phone calls and proposals. Claire is the "Runaway Bride," which is somewhat of a misnomer, since she only called off engagements (one at the wedding) with some real jerks. They both end up at her cabin in remote upstate NY to escape their fame/reputation. It's a relatively short book. They are both slow to trust and spend a lot of time talking while stuck in the cabin together. If you like emotional (but happy) reads, then I think you'd like this. There're no physical interactions until about halfway through. It follows the typical romantic comedy with a slow building relationship, problem, and happy solution. I like the recipe, and this one plays it out well and believably. The only thing I didn't like was how fixated they were on the stories of their fame (they didn't do a good job of escaping it), but it was a minor annoyance. They constantly referred to the other one accordingly, but I think by the end they were each finding the term endearing when coming from the other. Other than that, it's a sweet book and I laughed out loud at a few of the lines/beginning pieces. I like that Claire is independent and self-sufficient for the most part, but they still create a happy partnership when stuck inside from the storm and his lack of car. Despite this being part of a series, this works easily as a stand alone book! I'm definitely interested in the others though! Please note that I received this from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This story is so cute and it had me laughing out loud at times especially when Stanley comes to visit. It also had some really tender moments between Liam and Claire. These two had both been through a lot because of social media it was perfect that had each other to help them get past it. As with the other books in this series, this one is fun, light, and entertaining. Not a lot of angst or drama. Perfect afternoon read. I highly recommend it.

This is a laugh out loud, hilarious romance and I loved it from start to finish! After a client shared a photo of Liam Chase on the internet he gained an unwanted reputation as the hot HVAC Guy, with so many phone calls from admiring females he's really ready to escape. When an opportunity to do so arises - going to check out and give a quote for repairs to an air conditioning system up in the mountains, he jumps at the chance - a chance that will change his life! To start with he reaches the destination fine but, just after he gets out of his nearly new truck, a tree lands on it. It turns out that he's not the only one escaping to the mountains - the home owner whose property he's come to assess is the reporter Claire Stevens - who is now better known as the city's 'Runaway Bride' after three of her relationships have ended acrimoniously. She's using a pseudonym but both recognise each other and their mutual attraction is off the scale. This is a story where two people who are endeavouring to avoid relationships get thrown together and find romance. I loved Stanley, what a great character but I'm very glad he'll never be visiting my home! All you need then is a snow storm to strand them together, a pesky racoon and plenty of a wonderfully written story for a highly entertaining read. Many thanks to Entangled Publishing for gifting me an ARC of this novel via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this sweet romantic story. It's a story about two people who are tired of being in the spotlight and want reprieve from media hype. One known as "Runaway Bride" and the other "Hot HVAC Guy". If they're together then scandal will never die. It's not Claire's fault that her last three relationships were a disaster. And now she is being talked about. So taking a vacation seemed like a good idea. Hence here she is in her family cottage. Enjoying the cold. She needs someone to fix heating system. But what she doesn't anticipate is a fling with a hot guy... Liam is tired of phone ringing and girls screaming at him. One picture gone viral and now suddenly he can't have a moment of peace. So when a job opportunity in the mountains comes he leaves the city. What he didn't expect was a tree falling in his car and him being stuck at the lodge with a hot woman... So here they are both, thrown together, secluded and very attracted to each other. Can they risk a weekend fling? After all they don't have to see each other ever again. What started as a fling soon turned into a lot more. Claire is one woman who might make Liam fall into love... and Liam is one man who might convince Claire to trust again...

Claire and Liam have two things in common: unwanted infamy and an explosive attraction. Throw in a fallen tree and a blistering snowstorm and theirs just may be a match made in heaven. The 48 Hook Up is a love story made for the tabloids. Sarah Ballance brings a scorching romance with plenty of laughs and a truckload of fun. Those Chase boys really know how to woo a woman.
