Having struggled with adrenal exhaustion and insomnia for over a year, Dr. Christianson's work has truly helped me put my health back on track. I learned about the importance of light therapy (what kind, how often, how much light), carbohydrate cycling (when to eat them, which kind, how much), and more. This book is a must read to kick start your life. But, if you are trying to lose weight, I would recommend The Hungry Chick Dieting Solution. It is a must read if you are looking for permanent and healthy weight loss.

This book is a god-send! I'm an athletic type, very driven and go for challenging workouts. My driven physical activities combined with incredible stressors in my personal life put my health in a tail-spin about 3 years ago. I suddenly gained 30 lbs, despite a "clean diet" and several personal trainers. The more I worked out, the more strength I lost -- and I lost it fast. My insomnia kicked in big time, resulting in 3-5 hours or broken rest a night for 2.5 years straight. After seeing a host of medical and psychological doctors, all diagnoses pointed to stress. A cortisol test would later confirm this, showing that my cortisol peaked at 12am and was it's lowest in the AM which is the opposite cycle for a healthy body -- I was in "survival mode" to keep me safe from the "tigers that chased me." I was on a medically supervised cleanse for 28-days (using Metagenics) when I discovered this book. The cleanse and Dr. Christianson's diet are remarkable similar -- elimination of dairy, eggs, and gluten (at least until one achieves a healthy weight). On that cleanse I lost ~4 inches (which is awesome!). The additional points that Dr. Christianson provides -- such as listening to brain-wave music to relax after workouts (and for me...after work as well) has been a game changer. To not feel guilty about taking "recovery" moments (for a great book on this read, "The Champion's Mind" by Afremow), and to not stress about fitting in meditation and prayer -- if you can only give it 5 minutes then so be it. This pointers have been incredibly helpful and helped to enhance the back-to-health path that I am committed to traveling. I will continue to work with my practitioners to fully reset my sleep button, but my sleep is much better now. (It's only been 2 weeks since implementing his plan, which blends nicely with my medically supervised routine). I like that he suggests particular food and exercise choices for particularly levels of adrenal distress (stress, wired and tired, and crashed). If you or a loved one is stressed, this book is a must have!

This book is great! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to loose weight but also become a healthier person overall.  It talks about more than just eating right and working out. Learning to control stress levels and getting proper amounts of sleep. This book is very helpful and backs everything up with why it works. Overall the best book out there!

Dr. Christianson exposes the truth about carbohydrates and weight loss.   I finally feel like I understand what’s happening in my body.   I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has struggled with their weight or is just generally interested in what they eat.

I have lots of books on weight control, but this book is really informative. Have you ever wondered what happens in your body when you eat or don't eat? Or how your body reacts to the way you eat? In this book, the author explains it. Wow. I learned a lot. I think this information is going to be very helpful. Now I know why my body is so mixed up.
