Love the twist at the end.

This book gave what it promised...adventure around every corner, er page. I laughed so many times when I wasn't on the edge of my seat wondering how Anne would get out of each predicament. A must read!

I loved The Adventurer's Guide to Successful Escapes! The story is filled with original humor, exciting adventure, and cool world building. I cared about the characters, especially the determined Ann and her brave friend Penelope. I love how there's a bit of science fiction, and probably more on its way in the series. I can't wait to hand this one to my son who's moving from shorter, funny books to longer adventure series. Wade Albert White is a great new voice in the tween scifi/fantasy realm!

The Adventurer’s Guide to Successful Escapes, by Wade Albert White is the first volume of a new fantasy series for middle graders. With dragons, wizards and magic, set in a world where its inhabitants live on tiers in the sky, it’s sure to captivate its readers. The characters are smart, brave and determined. Anne is the leader. She’s bright, plucky and resolute. Her best friend, Penelope, is brave, loyal and full of spirit. Hiro has poor control over his magic spells, but does all he can to aid in their quest. A fearsome villain, the Matron, always manages to show up at the worst possible time. Humorous and action packed, the young heroes move from one precarious situation to the next in their effort to complete their quest and save the world. Young readers will find this a real page turner, and will be anxiously awaiting the next book in this wonderful new series.

This is one of those fun books of crazy silliness that is so funny, you can't help but smile and laugh the whole way through. My 12-yo gobbled it up in a day, and I wasn't far behind, even with a hectic schedule. I just couldn't put it down! I'm sorry for those of you who have to wait until September when it actually releases, but you don't want to miss this one! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my gosh, this book! I'm not typically a fantasy or adventure reader, but I was completely won over by this charming, hilarious, and fast-paced first book in a highly anticipated new middle grade series. Floating islands! A quest! A platypus arm! And so much more. The world-building in this book is incredible, but what will really stick with me is how clever it is. It's so smart and funny. Kids are going to love this one -- and I can easily imagine it as a movie (or movie series). We'll see!
