This heartwarming adventure of Lucky Macy, a mallard, is based on a true story of a duckling found in the early spring of 2006. Lucky's adventures began after her egg was found in front of Macy's department store near Livingston, New Jersey, by two kind farm girls, Annie and Marie Williams, who welcomed the duckling into their lives and hearts as the newest member of their family.
Follow as Annie; Marie; a miniature horse named Lita; Sydney, a self-centered sparrow; and Chippy, an easy-going chipmunk, join in the fun of helping Lucky discover not only what she is but also about the value of family. In time, Lucky will realize that family is made up of the ones who love you regardless of who you are.

About the Author

Writing has always been a passion for Suzan Kayaalp, a 1992 graduate of Rider University. In 2009, Suzan published The Adventures of Lucky the Duck. In June 2010 she was featured in The Atlantic City Press in the Living section for her book, The Adventures of Lucky the Duck. Suzan can be seen reading a section of her story to a class of third graders whom she had taught at the New Jersey Avenue school. The story is based on the adventures of a duckling found in front of Macy’s Department store in Livingston, NJ. The story chronicles the adventures the duckling had from the time she was found until she grew up and flew away that fall.

Writing The Adventures of Lucky the Duck was a pleasurable experience because the escapades were so unexpected and which made the story fun to write.

Suzan holds a BA in Elementary Education in English Literature with a minor in English As a Second Language. She lives and works in Atlantic County. She works for the Atlantic City Board of Education as an English as a Second Language teacher. Her biggest fan is her daughter. When she is not working or writing, Suzan enjoys reading, walking along the beach collecting sea glass and seashells with her daughter and spending time with family and friends.

I bought this book for my goddaughter. The cover was eye-catching. My goddaughter enjoyed the story very much. She couldn't believe all the adventures Lucky had. Her mother and I enjoyed listening to her as she told us about some of Lucky's adventures. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about animals.

I read the Adventures of Lucky the Duck to my third grade class, as the end of the day activity. MY students enjoyed the story very much. They enjoyed hearing about Lucky's adventure. Also, allowed for discussions of what families are made up of , and how it relates to their own families. I was also really excited to share with them that twenty percent of the profits go directly to the Saint Jude's Children's Hospital for Cancer.
