The book is illustrated beautifully, has a fun cute story, and would make a great addition to any little girl's library. Unfortunately, I don't think the lesson it states that it teaches is actually taught. Otherwise it would be a 5 star review!
I can’t imagine the challenge at bedtime that I would face if the design on my daughter’s pajamas dictated what would be in her dreams. I can only imagine where they would take her… “The Adventures of Pajama Girl and the Coronation of the Cupcake Queen” tells the story of Pajama Girl and her magical pajamas. When Pajama Girl dons her pajamas she is taken to magical places that match the design on her pajamas. In this story Pajama Girl and Princess Sis are whisked away to a land filled with all kinds of sweet treats where they meet the Cupcake Queen. Her coronation is in jeopardy because someone has stolen the all of the sprinkles in the land. Can Pajama Girl and Princess Sis find the missing sprinkles and save the coronation? “The Adventures of Pajama Girl” written by Sandra Hagee Parker is an adorable bedtime story with important lessons for us all. I love how the author takes tough topics like stealing and jealousy and presents them to little ones in a creative and age appropriate way. The author uses an imaginary situation that brings some fun into a very serious subject. The author also teaches our little ones about friendship and how it’s important to talk about what is bothering us with our friends instead of just assuming the worst. This book arrived in our house at the perfect time. My daughter recently had a “falling out” with her friend over a misunderstanding. I was able to use this story and the situation with the missing sprinkles to help explain to her how important it is to talk with our friends when we are feeling hurt and jealous. It showed her that sometimes what “we think” isn’t “what is”. While my daughter loved the story, I found that I stumbled over the flow sometimes as I read it aloud. The font is easy to read and the words the author uses in the story are perfect for young readers. It uses words like cannonball and coronation that may challenge some younger readers. The illustrations are perfect for bedtime. The colours are soft pencil sketches and capture the imagination. If your little girl loves tutu’s and sprinkles she is going to adore the pictures in this story. Still can’t get enough of Pajama Girl?
