The Air Forceby James P. McCarthy (Editor), Drew L. DeBerry (Editor)
Now, more than 50 years after its founding, the United States Air Force celebrates its spirit and essence in this deluxe-format book. Essays on Air Force history and today's aviators focus not only on the planes, helicopters, rockets, and technology but also on the special people that make it all work. Hundreds of full-color and vintage photography, portraits, recruiting posters, and historically inspired paintings complement the informative text. Written by a team of qualified historians, specialized authors, and associated experts, The Air Force links pilots past and present to America's first brave flyers, the Wright brothers.

With a brother in the Air Force, this was an excellent book to buy. He actually is reading it rather than using it as a coffee table book. That's absolutely amazing for him. It was really a great buy.
It is an expensive book, but it is one that you can keep forever. It is big and sturdy and it has the true Air Force seal (in metal) on the cover. Even better than the cover is the text. 368 pages (keep in mind that each page takes about 3 minutes to read) of great text and beautiful pictures that describe the history of the Air Force. Trust me on this one, if you love the Air Force or the United States military, it is a great buy!
This is an incredible book. With fascinating photographs and beautiful art, the text traces the history of the Air Force from the beginning of flight through 2002, focusing on key personnel who have contributed significantly to all aspects of its development. Production quality is top-notch: High quality color, elegant printing stock. Really a breathtaking book.
