A kickass heroine on a galactic quest must defeat Earth’s fiercest enemies to bring hope for the future…

The planet Prosperine is on the brink of war. Religious fanaticism is rampant; miracles are being performed by a local healer, and a powerful rebel army wants to return the planet to its fundamentalist past.

Prosperine’s administrators have asked the Galactic Alliance for help to defuse the situation. The GA’s charter doesn’t allow them to get involved in local politics, but a refusal will jeopardize access to the planet’s faster-than-light catalyst, Crynidium. They enlist the Alien Corps’ Hickory Lace to investigate on their behalf.

When Hickory discovers a sinister galactic force seeking to take advantage of the chaos, she is forced to act. The future of Earth and its allies is at stake and Hickory has only one chance to prevent a catastrophe. She must rediscover the powerful empathic gift she was born with, and at the same time determine exactly who or what the alien miracle worker represents.

The Alien Corps, book one of four in the science fiction series, Prosperine, is an epic adventure, a tale of overcoming fierce enemies, of single-minded heroism…and of hope for the future…

What readers are saying about this fantastic space adventure.

"Creative imagination at its best. Interesting characters, lots of action, a light sprinkling of mysterious super powers, creatures of unbelievable evil, and an interesting balance between war and it's cruelties and love for all beings."

“A Great read. Had me at the first chapter. Did not want to stop. Love the plot, the storyline, the action!!”

“Great characters; storyline with action, drama, and fast-paced intrigue; and unique description of an alien planet, society and its population. Highly recommended. I would get other books in the series.”

“McDermott creates a very original and hopeful future world similar to the kind of sci fi I grew up loving. His alien characters are delightful and believable. I could not wait to read the second book, Rise of the Erlachi which is even better!”

“This is a full-blown outer space adventure. Well described characters and a story that has a nice flow to it. I read it straight thru cover to cover.”

About the Author

PJ McDermott was born in Scotland and spent his youth in the town of Paisley, near Glasgow. As a boy he would "plunk" school and head to the local library to read any Science Fiction books he could lay his hands on. His favorite authors were Asimov, Herbert, Niven, Moorcock, and Le Guin. Probably the book he most enjoyed, though, was "Lord of the Rings" by Tolkien. "It was the grandest of adventures, exotic locations and magical characters that drew me in. Seriously, I read it at least six times!"

These days, when he has time to relax (which isn't often,) he enjoys the fantasy novels of Robin Hobb, George Martin and the modern SF writers, Vaughn Heppner and Alex Weir.

The author has published the 4-book science fiction adventure series Prosperine which includes The Alien Corps, Rise of the Erlachi, The Scarf, and Fractured Prophecy. All are available as e-books or in print, and The Alien Corps is also available as an audio book.

The prelude to the series, Born of Fire, tells of the apocalyptic events 84 years before The Alien Corps, and is available in audio, eBook and Print.

The highly acclaimed semi-biographical novel, Small Fish Big Fish, was PJ's first novel.

The author now lives the good life in Australia with his wife, Sue, two daughters and grandchildren, Mia, Ryder Patrick, and Ethan.

This book features some strong women and men who fight for an intergalactic agency. The unusual twists related to a Christian like Messiah makes for a great read. A new author for me that will be added to my favorites. His writing is very smooth and flows nicely. Very well edited.
