Overview

A gutsy heroine-a charismatic alien-a hostile world

Hickory Lace and her two sidekicks, Gareth and Jess, are sent to the planet Prosperine to locate a mysterious alien known as the Teacher. Could he be the one referred to in an ancient prophecy predicting the end of the world? Perhaps. But he might also be behind the unrest on Prosperine threatening to erupt into full scale war.

Unknown to Hickory, Earth's enemies are taking advantage of the chaos and have their eyes fixed on the planet's rare deposits of crynidium, essential for FTL travel.

Without the crynidium, the Galactic Alliance can't proceed with their plans to establish their galaxy-wide network for trade and defense.

The fate of many worlds hang in the balance. To stop the conspirators, Hickory must first rekindle the powerful empathic gift she was born with. Only then will she discover what the Teacher is up to and decide whether he is a fraud-or perhaps the very person the Alien Corps has hoped to find for so many years.

The Alien Corps is a sword and planet novel with authentic characters, political intrigue, and a courageous female protagonist.

Other books in the Prosperine series include:

Rise of the Erlachi (available in print, eBook, and audiobook)

The Scarf (available in print and eBook)

Fractured Prophecy (available in print and eBook)

About the Author

PJ McDermott was born in Scotland in the town of Paisley, near Glasgow. As a boy he would "plunk" school and head to the local library to read any Science Fiction books he could lay his hands on. His favorite authors were Asimov, Herbert, Niven, Moorcock, and Le Guin. Probably the book he most enjoyed, though, was "Lord of the Rings" by Tolkien. "It was the grandest of adventures, exotic locations and magical characters that drew me in. Seriously, I read it at least six times!"
These days, when he has time to relax (which isn't often,) he enjoys the fantasy novels of Robin Hobb, George Martin and the modern SF writers, Vaughn Heppner, and Alex Weir.
The author has published the 4-book science fiction adventure series Prosperine which includes The Alien Corps, Rise of the Erlachi, The Scarf, and Fractured Prophecy. All are available as e-books or in print, and The Alien Corps and Rise of the Erlachi are also available as audiobooks.
The acclaimed semi-biographical, coming of age novel, "Small Fish Big Fish," was PJ's first novel, and has recently been rereleased as "Caught in the Long Grass."
The author now lives in Australia with his wife, Sue, two daughters and grandchildren, Mia, Ryder Patrick, and Ethan.
