Read from December 27, 2013 to January 03, 2014 Book Info  Paperback, 404 pages Published April 8th 2013 by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform ISBN 1483992594 (ISBN13: 9781483992594) edition language English other editions None found Source:Digital copy from Author  Book Buy Links  AMAZON  B&N  BOOK SYNOPSIS Strange things have been happening in Evergreen, Colorado. People are disappearing, wolves are prowling the woods for the first time in seventy years, and strangers in black are showing up at the local schools. For the Ambrose family, it’s a sign that their quiet lives are about to be changed forever. The events signal the beginning of a struggle that will either push them closer together as a family, or tear them apart. To survive, each of the children must harness the strange new abilities with which they’ve been gifted and learn to fight as one. For Jeremiah Ambrose, the struggle to protect his children will force him to put aside his animosity for his brother-in-law Harper, and learn to see him in a different light.  But for Harper, the burden is heaviest. He alone knows the truth about the strange events and what they mean for his family. Something is searching for the Ambrose children. And when it finds them, the fate of the whole world will be decided… My Thoughts Like a good recipe a good book must have “tasty” components that make it enjoyable, crisp action that leaves no doubt as to what characters are going through, characters who resonate with the reader in some capacity so they can relate to them throughout the story, plot lines that have plausible connections that lead to a believable tale, if part of a conflict clearly defined villains that are not easily defeated and most of all either an ending that resolves everything or one that leaves off at a point that easily can be picked up at a later date to continue in another book. Author Alena Gouveia has covered all these areas well creating a story about a family whose lives are forever changed in ways that none of them would have ever dreamed possible. The way in which the story evolves allows the reader to become familiar with each character and their personalities from the young Billie Ambrose to the elderly Dolores Ramirez, grandmother of Eduardo who goes to school and is friends with Dinah Ambrose. The conflict at the center of it all is only resolved at the very end when the identity of the magical “Solas” is finally revealed and the power that is sought by both factions of good and evil is manifested. Like others who were given a chance by the Author to read a digital review copy of this first book in the Solas Phrophecy series it was a delight to find myself easily involved in the fantasy aspects of the piece as well as rapidly becoming attached to quite a few of the characters, especially Vaughn Ambrose and his father Jeremiah’s partner in the FBI Larry. This book is hard for me to categorize as it is actually a mixture of genres, including mystery, action thriller, paranormal, suspense and even science fiction. Powerful tale of familial love and good vs evil, addictive reading once you get involved in the story. [Digital copy from Author in exchange for honest review]

A must read for all fantasy fans! I was approached by the author to review this book and I am so happy I accepted his request.  I LOVED this book!!   The Ambrose Beacon is a fantasy novel that focuses on the Ambrose family.  The family consists of the father, Jeremiah Ambrose, his 5 children and their uncle Harper (the brother of their deceased mother). Just as the synopsis states there are strange things happening in their hometown Evergreen, Colorado. The book is written in the point of views of the different characters, which at first I thought was strange. But the more I read the book the more I enjoyed the different point of views.  Since there are so many main characters, the switch from point of views allowed me to connect with all the characters in a shorter amount of time than most books.  And I felt the author did a great job of writing the scenes, so well that the story flowed perfectly and it built up the suspense of the storyline.  There is non-stop action that kept me on the edge of my seat and I had a hard time putting this book down. The Ambrose Beacon is a book that I think middle grade, young adult and adult readers will enjoy. I loved how the children were loving and protective of each other, despite their age gaps. And there are subplots (for example school bullies and the school dance) that all readers can relate to. I look forward to reading more from this author and I highly recommend this book! Fans of fantasy who love an action filled story should definitely read this book!

Very well written! There are a lot of characters but generally you can keep track of them because of the way they're described--keps you on the edge of your seat wondering if this time the demons are actually going to get them

Arianna who was an immortal who married a human Jerry and they had 5 children who inherited different powers from there mother. The oldest was Cody then Dinah and Vaughan then the last two were Louis and there sister a girl called Billie. One of them was the Solas a Beacon of light something that was good to keep Demons behind the gates. Some Demons escaped to get the Solas for there self. Uncle Harper took care of his sister kids while Jerry work. Uncle Harper was also an immortal and live for over 3000 years and had special powers but it would take more then the family to stop the Demons and no one knew which was the Solas of light to stop the Demons.
