Overview

The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek [Enhanced]

This punk-influenced band dishes up fluffy, fun rock with a nice Christian message targeting teens. Their sound is rooted in pounding drums, heavy guitar riffs, sweet harmonies, and lead singer Matt Thiessen's run-on vocal phrasing. The Canton, Ohio-based foursome finds a niche with its quirkier tunes, and as the album's name implies, Tongue in Cheek is full of them. While songs like "Sadie Hawkins Dance," "May the Horse Be with You," and "Breakfast at Timpani's" will undoubtedly resonate with the band's teen fans, Relient K isn't afraid to take a stand when it counts. "Down in Flames" turns a critical eye on the Christian community, while "Less Is More" offers an unexpected tender prayer. Many of the 17 tracks run together in a blaze of head-banging punk-rock -- sometimes, less really is more -- but when four guys are having this much fun, it's barely worth quibbling over.

This is one of the coooooooolest CDs I own! I drive my dad crazy when I listen to Sadie Hawkin's Dance, Failure to Excomunicate, or Pressin On on the way to school for two weeks strait. But what can I say? They're Awsome! How can you beet a great christian message and a great beat all roled into one?

Relient K provides a great message to teens and other listeners yet avoids the all-too-common cheesiness of some Christian music. You just gotta love 'em!

This band is the best because it gives great sound and awesome lyrics. It also provides music without suggestive language and violence. That is why i rated it with 5 stars. TOTALLY AWEWSOME!

relient k is one of my favorite bands because not only can they all play seriously kick butt instruments AND sing, their lyrics (which they write themselves, by the way) are both very funny and have a good message at the same time. anybody who likes rock will like them, and you'll love them if you're into pop-punk or power pop. if you're more into a harder punk sound then get their self-titled cd instead; both of them are great. no matter what if you like punk or emo or ska or whatever do a Google search for Christian Punks United and the first result will be a great site that has pretty much all the Christian bands out there that you might be interested in (no pop or sucky rock). check it out cuz trust me it'll be worth your time.

I think this is their best album, though I've heard MMM HHM. I saw them in concert and they were awesome!! It's one of the few bands I can listen to and not get tired of it.

Relient K is an awesome band! Anyone who likes punk rock or christian music should definetly buy this CD. Its music that people can actually relate to. None of the Britney Spears stuff.

This is an awesome group with both funny and poweful songs. Many of the songs are Christian based and you get into them so fast! Relient K is a punk rock band and if you get any punk rock cd, it should be this one.

This is such an incredible album! Right from the start i knew i was gonna love this album with the funny ''kick-off'' to start right into what is gonna be a big hit the song ''Pressing on''. This is a great rock albums if you like great singing & awesome guitar riffs you can't beat Relient K these guys rock! And suprisingly my favorite parts of the album are the 2 slower songs on it, ''For the moments i feel Faint'' & ''Less is More'' these 2 songs are powerful & are incredible worship songs. Beautiful guitar on ''for the moments i feel faint & ''Less is more'' is a refreshing song played on the piano. Even if you don't like rock those 2 songs are enough to buy an album! ''Those words are no enough'' shows off Relient K's incredible ability to sing & play instruments awesome at the same time! I love ''what have you been doing lately'' a very funny but true song, that really hit me hard. These guys really know how to write a song that is fun & has laughs but then at the same time it has a very true point. It is so hard to pick favorites because this is such a great album, a great album to put on random & just listen to the whole thing, it is really hard for me to pick favorites on this album, it all rocks! The first album by these guys was good, this album is incredible i cannot wait to see what the come out with next! I highly recomend this album to anybody! The most hit covered album i've ever heard.

I picked up Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek yesterday, and I've already basically memorized it. There isn't a single song on there that I dislike. There are a lot of funny, fast paced songs, but there are more spiritual and thoughtful ones as well. I can't wait to buy Two Lefts Don't Make a Right (But 3 Do). These guys are great!
