Gr 4-6 Because their father has become engaged to a women whom they dislike, the Smith children (who appeared in Vampire Vacation and Moroccan Mystery both Avon, 1986) decide to sabotage the wedding plans through a series of unamusing and potentially harmful ``escapades.'' Even though the fiancee is a gold-digging floozy and the father is boorishly self-absorbed, the young avengers still look like spoiled brats. There is not a sympathetic character in the entire story, and this book is not funny. Sally T. Margolis, Town and Country Day School, Kensington, Md.
