Overview

Anglicanism today is experiencing a crisis of identity. The conflicts which have arisen from the battle between those who hold to Biblical standards of orthodoxy and those progressive liberals of the theological left have polarised Anglicans, and left them struggling to redefine - or rediscover - what actually constitutes the essentials of their tradition and where they stand within the context of the wider Catholic Church. In this book, Bishop Redmile seeks to reacquaint his fellow Anglicans with the authentic orthodox doctrine of their tradition in regard to the Sacraments and Ministry of the Church, and to make a case for the historical continuity of their lines of Apostolic Succession and the validity of their ministerial Orders through quoting from prominent Anglican Divines and by setting forth tables of Succession from Anglican registers and historical documents. This work will of be immense interest, and one hopes of great usefulness, to any Anglican Christians concerned with recovering a true understanding of their heritage, and those involved in the struggle to uphold and protect the integrity of their Anglican tradition while working towards achieving reconciliation with their Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox brethren.

About the Author

The Right Reverend Robert D. Redmile is the Bishop of Richmond, British Columbia, of the Christian Episcopal Church of Canada. Bishop Redmile was ordained Priest in 1993, and consecrated Bishop in 2002, by the first Bishop of Richmond, the Most Reverend A. Donald Davies. Bishop Redmile succeeded Archbishop Davies as the second Bishop of Richmond in 2004. The arms depicted here is the heraldic achievement of Bishop Redmile granted him by Queen Elizabeth II in 2011 through the Heraldic Authority of Canada.
