Overview

This Book, "THE ARCHIVAL HISTORY OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF ALLIED HEALTH (NSAH): Its Emergence out from the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)", chronicles the activities of the organization since its establishment during the Post-Segregation period. The 43-year organizational journey documents the historical activities that parallel the civil rights movement to the present day.
This book shares the insight of the four African American founders who were educators at HBCUs and supporters of allied health sciences on their campuses. Through their leadership, institutional support was garnered on other HBCU campuses in support of the organization. Through the visionary actions of the founders, opportunities were created for African Americans at participating HBCUs to develop and hone their skills in research, teaching, and leadership.
This book carefully documents the organizational outcomes over time and can be considered a major contribution to the allied health literature. It serves as a true testament to the African American spirit in creating educational opportunities on HBCU campuses and in communities of color where allied health professionals are underrepresented and needed the most. Undoubtedly, this book will inspire future generations to read about the founders and their influence on allied health at HBCUs.
It is recommended that this book serves as "a readily available resource" at HBCU libraries. The content will likely serve as an inspiration for faculty researchers, educators, and students for generations to come.
