This book picks up two years after the previous Rome's Revolution. This book deftly merges the information and characters established in the previous book. The writing was smooth and did not get in the way of the story. A lot more action, a lot going on. Some heart-tugging moments and some belly laughs. One of the things that I really liked about both books was that you can really picture the characters, the settings, the equipment. Like a movie of the mind. It wasn't long enough for my taste but then it never could be, I always wanted more. I can't wait for the next one.

What a rush! This sequel to Rome's Revolution is a lot lighter and a lot faster moving. I didn't realize there were still some loose ends from the previous book but this one ties them all together in an exciting bow. The story lines starts out innocently enough but very quickly, you can hear the drumbeats in the background. Then all hell breaks loose. There is a lot of story and emotion in this one and fills in some of the "future history" only mentioned previously in Rome's Revolution. If you like a good adventure with some hard science to it, this is the book for you. I highly recommend reading Rome's Revolution first, though. This book stands by itself but a lot of the backdrop would make more sense if you were already familiar with the characters and universe.

Looked forward to more in this series and was not disappointed - this is a very creative story with many surprises -- great plot and the characters continue to develop. The science is extremely well researched. Love the positive tone and the sense on ongoing adventure. Hope there is more coming!

Fast moving, very entertaining. This book brings back my favorite characters, especially MINIMCOM, and drops them right into trouble again. While the book stands on its own merits, I think you will get more out of it if you read Rome's Revolution first. The plot interweaves some loose ends from the last book along with the future history and blends it all into a page-turner. The writing is smooth and very descriptive. The science, though much last than the previous book, is still crisp and well-researched. I highly recommend it.
