THE YEAR MY LIFE WENT DOWN THE LOO
When sixteen-year-old Emily’s family uproots her from Seattle to England right before her junior year, she has to adjust to a whole new lingo, new friends, and a serious lack of malls. Luckily, hunkalicious British boys do exist!
THEY WEAR WHAT UNDER THEIR KILTS?
Emily spends her month of work experience on a Scottish sheep farm, complete with wild sheep, her best friend Holly , and Ruaraidh the shepherd, AKA the Scottish God of Love who just happens to have eleven fingers. Kilt-watching, disastrous castle tours, graffiti spray-painted sheep, and tanning lotions gone horribly awry—it’s just another month in the life of Emily.
WHAT'S FRENCH FOR "EW!"?
Spring break arrives, and Emily is in Paris to learn French. With her trusty friend Holly at her side, an anti-pregnancy doll named Jack, and snogariffic boyfriend Devon arriving for a visit, Emily's habit of getting into the most hilarious situations ever results in her storming more than just the Bastille. Will Paris survive her visit?

So much fun
I really enjoyed these three novellas by Katie Macalister. The Year My Life Went Down The Loo covers the period during which Emily is a 16-year-old Seattle teen, whose life is literally turned upside down when her family moves to England. Emily tells us her story in email form as she writes to her friend Dru back in the States. Makeup, boys, Liam Hemsworth and trying to fit into a new school obsess Emily. Oh and did I mention she calls her father Brother which is strange but fits. There are kilts and an older sister named Bess who is interesting in her own way and a haunted underwear drawer. Quite funny. Next up is They Wear What Under Their Kilts-continues Emily's school year adventures as she's off to Scotland for her month long "work experience" required by school. Brother and her mother take her to Scotland where she will be under her Aunt and Uncle’s watch. This covers her misadventures and boy craziness in Scotland with her new friend Holly. A hottie web site page is developed which I would love to click on……This shows you the naive, cute awkward, sophisticated funny sides of a teen. Next up is What's French For "Ew?"- Emily's school year misadventures continue on in Paris with her friend Holly from school in England. She is in France for a two-week intense class in French to try to catch up with her class. As usual Emily gets into all kinds of misadventures and boy trouble with her hotties craze. There are the scenes with the LuvMyBaby doll that are so funny. Another great read from Katie. Well worth the time to read it brings back a lot of awkward teen-age angst in a humorous way.
