In this age of limitless digital connections, we are somehow lonelier than ever. This isn't just bad news--it's dangerous news. Loneliness puts us at greater health risk than smoking or obesity, but we would sooner label ourselves overweight than admit we are lonely. It is a secret that is killing us.

Contrary to all our efforts, the answer is not found in more connections, but deeper ones that mirror God himself as the originator of friendship and the original Friend. The Art of Friendship walks with you into a greater understanding of how God has equipped you to be a friend and to have meaningful friendships. With step-by-step guidance, you will begin to strategize how to fulfill your divine calling as a friend. And through God's Word, as you come to understand the depth and width and breadth of God as Friend, you will discover that the spiritual discipline of friendship is both life-changing and life-giving.

I enjoyed this practical book as the author explored what makes good friendships and how to maintain them. Kim Wier writes with a humorous style that I enjoyed, often using her own mistakes as an example. That made her advice more relatable, as she didn’t claim to have it all figured out, but could point the way. There were many things I felt I could take from this book and apply to my life, but the section that most deeply affected me was when she began to apply the 1 Corinthians 13 love chapter to friendship. As she outlined how love behaves towards friends, it was clear—I can’t do it on my own! Which was the perfect opportunity for the reminder: it’s only possible to work that direction with the Holy Spirit working inside us. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone wanting to grow in their friending in real, and meaningful ways. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Wow!  After reading “The Art of Friendship”, it truly encouraged me to not walk the journey we call “life” alone.  It challenged me to pursue authentic friendships with genuine love, commitment to time with friends, caring about the details of their life, letting go of “self” and most of all being transparent with them as we walk together in the relationship. In the book, the example of Jesus “laying down His life for His friends” gave me a vivid image of pure, unconditional love for His friends. Wow! What an example to follow! Thank you Kim for your insight into pursuing true authentic friendships.

This book has brought to my attention my misconceptions about what friendship really is all about! It has given me greater understanding of my role with others as well as a greater understanding of God.
