About the Author

Daniel Isengart is a writer, cabaret entertainer and private chef living in New York City. He is the author of Queering the Kitchen: A Manifesto, based on his popular series at Slate.com and forthcoming from Outpost19. He has written on hidden gay culinary history for Jarry Magazine and elsehwere. Daniel is also the subject of The Autobiography of Daniel J. Isengart (Outpost19), written by his partner Filip Noterdaeme. Most recently, he's published a notable review of The Gourmands' Way by Justin Spring (PW Nonfiction Book of the Year 2017) at Slate: http://www.slate.com/authors.daniel_isengart.html.

Jeremiah Tower is an acclaimed authority on food and restaurant hospitality, the author of four books and contributor to 26 shows for PBS. He began his culinary career in 1972-1978 as co-owner and executive chef of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California, and then went on to open numerous landmark restaurants, notably the Balboa Café and Stars in Francisco, the Santa Fe Bar & Grill in Berkeley, and Ventana in Big Sur. He is the subject of the 2017 documentary "The Last Magnificent," produced by Anthony Bourdain, which charts his industry return with his revival of the legendary Tavern on The Green.
