The world is going crazy and only they can see it... Super creepy! Supernatural! Yep, just another chilling jaunt with the Harbingers! Each of the paperback books contains what they call a 'cycle', meaning four novellas – one from each author. I picked up the first one because I've been a fan of both Frank Peretti and Bill Myers since I was a kid and devoured half a dozen books a week. I was hooked by book one so when I got the chance to read the second cycle called The Assault, episodes 5-8, I grabbed it. Definitely a darker series, book two is even spookier and delves further into the horror aspect of the intertwined storyline. One of the things that I liked about these stories is actually what the authors established as Rule #2 for their collaboration, each author writes a novella that builds on the previous one, all characters are present but each story is told from a single perspective. As each epsiode builds on the previous one it has been quite interesting to follow the four adult characters as they begin to understand, and even find a grudging respect, for each other. They are starting to form a true team as they must work together and utilize each person's strengths and gifts. If you are a fan of any or all of the four authors, Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt, Alton Gansky, or you enjoy Christian horror/supernatural suspense stories, you've definitely got to try The Assault and its predecessor! (I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

of these authors individually, so I was hoping for the best when they appear in one book. It began as a game with just a few rules. Each of the authors, Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt and Alton Gansky would write their entry as if they were one of the characters. The second rule stated that they would write it like a television series. So there would be one storyline over all where each person would place their story, from their character's point of view. They were successful with their first attempt and this is their second. Each of these stories involve four gifted people who are fighting a growing darkness. Bill Myer's "The Revealing" has them in Rome looking for the mystical spear Hitler once had. This was also the spear that pierced Christ's side. This led them to many places they did not expect. Frank Peretti wrote "Infestation" where a microscopic evil was released on the world. This evil deceives, blinds, kills and then moves on. Angela Hunt's "Infiltration" has the team barely staying together. They have been injured and separate. Soon they realize they are now in dangerous situation. "The Fog" by Alton Gansky has a supernatural mist that is unleashed. Dangerous things are in the fog. These things kill the things or people they find. One of the members of this group realizes that the ultimate sacrifice is called for. Such an exciting and gripping book. I had not read the first book in the series, but I am on the lookout for it now. I did not have any issues coming in with this book. I caught on very fast as to who was who and what was going on. It is amazing how even though each of these stories are individual stories, they come together so well. A huge advantage to this is one of the stories in here can be read alone, yet you know when the book is picked backup it will continue from a different point of view. I found this an exceptional project. I highly recommend it especially to those who enjoy episodic stories I was given this book by Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.

The Assault - what can you say about 5 Novella Cycle II of the Harbinger Series - it is about what we would call the Supernatural - four people who somehow miraculously and we know when we say miraculously we mean (GOD) - then they find they all have a Supernatural gift and thus the adventure began - and right now there are 13 Novellas this is showing 5-8 where you have a girl who sees into the future an atheist who use to be a priest, a person who sees unexplainable patterns, and a jock with healing powers, you have a fungus that tries to take over the earth. While you have the spear that was used for putting in the side of CHRIST, being sent into the past, killer fog - I mean how can you miss out on all of that? it is intense, mind thrilling. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

This book was amazing, incredible writing and compelling to read with entertaining fun story that had a lot of turn, and full of surprising that make you wondering what will be happening next and with all the quality of the book was very encouraging me and very hard to put it down. The story of was writing from four author with they are one of the characters in this series. Bill Myers would write as Brenda, The street-hustling tattoo artist who sees images of he future. Frank Peretti would write as the professor, the atheist ex-priest ruled ruled by logic. Angela Hunt would write as Andi, the professor’s brilliant but geeky assistant who sees inexplicable patterns. Alton Gansky would write as Tank, the naïve, big-hearted jock with a surprising connection to a healing power. I highly recommend to everyone must to read this book. “ I received complimentary a copy of this book from Bethany House for this review “.

When I read the first in this series ,I was pulled in and had mixed feeling about the stories due to the focus on the Paranormal. I was intrigued by the depth of the characters. I decided to read this second in the series hoping it would not be so much like science fiction. I can tell you that I couldn't wait to be finished, because it felt more like a monster movie or aliens from outer space. I don't care for Science Fiction, but love Peretti's other books. The only thing I can say that is positive about the story is the portrayal of the four characters. Having said this, I will say I will not read any future books in this series. If you like aliens and science fiction, you'll love the book. There haven't ever been many books I dislike as much as I did this one. Disclaimer: I received a free copy of the book from the Bethany House, a division of Baker Publishing. No review, positive or otherwise, was required; all opinions are my own.

THE ASSAULT Harbingers Cycle Two By Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt, Alton Gansky This is the second book of a series written by four different authors. The story is about four people, working as a team to fight evil that is trying to take over the world. The four are from different walks of life, a tattoo artist, a professor, professor’s assistant and ex-football player but they all work very well together. Each section is narrated by a different person of the team and written by a different author, but is done in a way that they all blend together to make one story. This book start in the Vatican, goes to Florida and end in California. The evil they come against is very unbelievable and can be considered sci-fi, houses that turn to liquid, animal and people taken over by a fungus and different evil people under the control of something or someone, trying to take over. If you enjoy horror or sci-fi you may enjoy this book. I like sci-fi but some of the things in this book are just a little weird. Very little about God is shared in the book, there is only one of the four that is a true believer and shares his beliefs. No profanity or sexual overtones are in the book. Good reading for this type of book, built up suspense and the story holds your interest. I received this book free from Bethany House Blogger Review Program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255

The Assault is the second installment in the Harbingers series. The series begins with The Invitation, where all of the characters (The Professor, Andi, Tank, Brenda and Daniel) are introduced as they work as a team to fight an unknown evil. Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt, and Alton Gansky each write a novella within each book in the series. This book is every bit as exciting as the first installment. Bill Myers starts out with The Revealing. The team is in Rome at the Vatican searching for a mystical spear that Hitler once stole. As a side note, I looked up the history on this and found it all to be quite interesting along with this novella, which is based on some truth about the spear. Frank Peretti then tells about the Infestation--a microscopic plague that is spreading through the world to kill humankind. The team has to identify what this substance is, how it works, and try to figure out how to stop it. Angela Hunt writes about the Infiltration through the eyes of Andi. This wounded team needs a respite but it doesn't look like they are going to get one. . .especially Andi who isn't quite feeling like herself yet but doesn't want to worry the rest of the team. Alton Gansky then tells about The Fog. The team led by Tank must deal with a supernatural fog filled with vicious monsters unlike anything ever seen before. Tank knows he must make sacrifice to stop the fog and save his friends and others. This series has me on the edge of my seat as I turn pages to find out what happens to everyone next. I can't wait until the third book, The Probing comes out in December. This series is written in a fast paced format sort of like a television series. I am enjoying the characters and the interesting plot lines. Only one character of the main four professes to be a Christian. I hope as I continue reading his faith makes a difference to the other team members. Knowing this group of writers and their other work, I think it will. I highly recommend this series and this book if you like fast paced Christian fiction. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House. I was not required to write a positive review in exchange for the book.

If you love anything dealing with the supernatural from a Christian perspective, then you need to check out the Harbinger Series. Each cycle of the series takes the talents of well-known Christian authors and gives them the opportunity to expand on an ongoing series with very different characters point of view. Think of it, like a television series but in this case each author is adding their own spin to the continuing saga that is plaguing a unique set of characters from vastly different backgrounds. This cycle of the Harbinger series is the second one and incorporates the stories of The Revealing by Bill Myers, Infestation by Frank Peretti, Infiltration by Angela Hunt and The Fog by Alton Gansky. In the series, Bill Myers writes as Brenda, a street-hustling tattoo artist who sees images of the future. Frank Peretti writes as the Professor, the atheist ex-priest who is ruled by logic. Angela Hunt writes as Andi, the professor's brilliant but geeky assistant who sees inexplicable patterns and Alton Gansky writes as Tank, the naive, big-hearted jock with a surprising connection to a healing power. So instead of the four talented authors writing one novella together, this comes together like a television series. There is an overarching storyline into which they each plug their own novellas, with each story written from our characters point of view. In The Revealing, the team is gathered together under the direction of Bill Myers and they find themselves searching for the Spear of Destiny, which is coveted by those who seek it because it is said that those that weld the instrument that was used to plunge into the body of Jesus Christ on the cross still retains some supernatural properties and now the hunt it on for those who want to keep it hidden and those who want it found. In The Infestation by Frank Peretti, the team is thrust back into their pasts to deal with situations that were never resolved and this time an unseen fungus is attempting to infect the world without anyone knowing what is happening. When one of the team is affected will they be able to figure out a way to stop it before it kills them? In Infiltration, the team discover a secret plot by those that they have been following are now all connected to their various discoveries and now they are being hunted one by one by something that no one can see but involves going back into their pasts before they were united as if they never met. They will have to convince each other that they do have a connection in some future event if they hope to succeed in not only keeping the team together but keeping them alive. Finally in The Fog, Alton Gansky takes our team to the top of a high rise building as a fog rushes in with the ability not only to kill on ground level but it begins to rise and with it the body counts continue to climb as well. I received The Assault by Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt and Alton Gansky compliments of Baker Publishing Group and Net Galley. I have absolutely LOVED this entire series and even though these individual books were written before, they are collected in groups of four known as the Cycle of the Harbinger series. Readers even get a sneak peek at the coming Cycle Three at the conclusion of this collection. These must be read in order not as individual stand alones otherwise as a reader, you would be completely lost by not understanding each characters motivation in working together to solve what is happening not only to them as indi
