Former skateboarding star, currently satellite radio talk show host, and self-proclaimed awesome guy Ellis ("I'm Awesome") delivers an entertaining self-help book. There is a sincere attempt to provide helpful hints to his target audience —men ages 18–to 25—that is both enlightening and hilarious, as Ellis offers a simple code to live by: "When you figure out how to be awesome at one thing, the same rules apply to the rest of the shit in your life." He includes everything from exercise ("I suggest going to the gym, facing another man, and then punching each other in the face. It's euphoric") to clothes ("for the love of Christ, get your laces straightened out. chicks care about that"), and tattoos ("if the word or the phrase you want is too cheesy to write in English, then Asian characters won't save it"). Even when he decides to give some advice to women ("Vagina hair is on the comeback trail these days") Ellis isn't snarky, but truly wants to "motivate people to try harder and become better." (Mar.)
