The Babel Conspiracy by Sylvia Bambola

The Babel Conspiracy is a tale of intrigue and love. Two women engineers struggle to develop the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft amid ever intensifying global terrorism and muddled personal lives. Trisha Callahan has an abiding faith in God, and "those roots of middy blouses and pleated skirts, prayer books and incense-filled churches went deep." This faith is tested when she finds herself in love with a married man. Audra Shields sees herself as a modern Lady Chatterley, "liberated but not forsaking breeding, intellect, or femininity." When she becomes involved with a dangerous stranger, she begins to question her lifestyle.

Both women try sorting out their personal problems while racing the clock to finish a project fraught with sabotage and murder. And who's behind it all? When the Department of Homeland Security and the Mossad finally figure it out, the answer surprises everyone.

The Babel Conspiracy was my first foray into the writing of Sylvia Bambola. Wow! What an introduction! Set in the not-very-distant future, there are way too many incidents that sounded like things we’ve seen since the last election. Increased violence, loss of morals, rampant addiction, terrorist attacks – all play a part in this story and all appear to be on the upswing in today’s USA. Trisha Callahan is an engineer for Patterson Aviation. She has been working on a nuclear fusion-fueled SST. If she succeeds, the ramifications for eliminating the US dependency on oil are huge. With the cost of oil topping $250 a barrel, ISIS controlled nations are growing rich and making greater inroads into the rest of the world. There is even an Islamic States of America (ISA) group that is wreaking havoc in all major cities. Can Trisha succeed in her mission and keep her faith strong when she has to constantly look over her shoulder for those intent on stopping her? Audra Shields is the metallurgist working with Trisha to create the new plane engine. Her job is to make the heat shield for the on-board reactor. She is crazy smart – at the office – but morally bankrupt. She sees Trisha as a holy-roller who has no fun. Will Audra’s lifestyle continue to spiral until she crashes and burns? I loved how Ms. Bambola contrasted the lives and characters of these two women! Trisha’s strong faith keeps her from sinning but she’s not perfect. She’s managed to fall in love with her married boss who has made it clear he’d be open to having an affair with her. As they work closely together to complete the P2 plane, can she continue to resist satan’s whisper that “everyone is doing it – why shouldn’t you grab some happiness when it’s offered?” I also loved how she incorporated Israel and the Mossad throughout the story. The heroism the Mossad agents show is phenomenal. Can they work together with the Department of Homeland Security to figure out who is behind the sabotage and murder that is plaguing the P2 project? Readers of suspense will LOVE this book. It seemed like there was a new twist every few pages that ramped up my heart rate and kept me racing through to the end. I would caution readers that there is a considerable amount of violence both alluded to and on the page. There is also quite a lot of immorality – many characters are engaging in adultery with impunity. Honestly, I found both of these elements to be crucial to what Bambola was trying to convey – that life without Christ goes into a death spiral from which there is no return. The contrast between the lives of the godly characters and the ungodly is striking and will leave readers looking for ways to follow Christ more fully. This was a good dystopian romantic thriller. I really liked Trisha but wasn't too thrilled with Audra. These women are trying to create a new type of engine to fly airplanes. The world is going crazy with oil being very expensive and many bad things going on with terrorists. How will the world keep going through all of this. How can the United States keep going? The world is going crazy. This was an interesting story. I received this book from for a fair and honest opinion.

The Babel Conspiracy by Sylvia Bambola is the third novel that I have read from this author. Once again, I was not disappointed. The book is a suspense novel with Christian ethics, romance, temptations, and espionage written all throughout. There was quite a bit of politics and technical scientific language in the book which I did not fully understand, but it did not deter me from reading and enjoying the novel to the fullest. The storyline focuses on two intelligent young women, Trish Callahan and Audra Shield, and their lives in working to develop an aircraft in the political torn United States which reeks with terrorism even in the highest office. One is a Christian and faces temptation and decisions, and the other indulges in the sins and pleasures of the world. What will happen to their lives – falling into the temptation; accepting forgiveness from a Loving God? The book focuses on overcoming evil and forgiveness. I look forward to reading Ms. Bambola’s next novel. I received a copy from the author and publisher of The Book Club Network in exchange for an honest review

Sylvia Bambola has written another great book. The Babel Conspiracy is my fourth book that I have read of this talented lady. She has such a gift with words that they bring me right into the story as she tells it. Trisha, one of the main characters in the book is a Christian, however, like all of us, she is faced with temptation when she falls for a married man. She fights the temptation and turns to her work. Her job is to build the first nuclear powered aircraft. She remains strong in her faith. Each of Sylvia Bambola's books are so different. This one deals with the political and spiritual atmosphere of the world. I cannot give enough praise for this book. It is definitely one that I will treasure. I was given this book by, Heritage Publishing House and the author in exchange for my honest review.

The Babel Conspiracy by Sylvia Bambola is a fascinating story of intrigue and international politics laced with romance. Even though the book was originally written a number of years ago, the events could have been ripped from the headlines of today's news reports. It is evident the author has done considerable research and seems to have intuitive insight into current events. The Bable Conspiracy is action packed with riots, bombings, and car chases and yet it is rich in love too...forbidden love, unrequited love, and love that sees beyond the outward appearance into the heart. The characters are strong and believable and crafted into a real world of temptation, terrorism, corruption, and fear. Along with the brutality and evil of terrorism and the shadiness of politics, there is a strong Christian theme threaded throughout the of redemption, peace in the midst of a storm and hope. Included in the book is a listing of the characters, a glossary and a short section of discussion questions. All in all, a book that lovers of contemporary thrillers will not want to miss. I received a copy of this book through The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.

I have read a couple of other books by Sylvia and really enjoyed them, they were historical novels so I was curious to see how she would handle something contemporary. This book had a lot of tension and wondering what was going to happen next. It is also very relevent to that is going on in our world, which I found even more interesting since I’m sure Sylvia started writing this before this events took place in our world. I appreciated Trisha’s struggle as I have had a similar struggle in my life and I found it very interesting how Sylvia worked that all out. I really wanted to like Audra but there weren’t many redeeming qualities about her and I think that is true to life, there are just some people who make it difficult. There are many different characters in this book but they do all end up coming together. However, if I am being honest (which I am) I didn’t love this book. Something in it felt a bit forced to me, and I didn’t really connect fully. I can’t even put my finger on it, so it might just be me. Maybe is was too technical for me and I didn’t get it. But something didn’t work for me completely. With that being said, I did want to finish the book to see how it would all turn out because there was so much tension. A copy of this book was given to me through The Book Club Network Inc. in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I've read by Sylvia Bambola, but it won't be my last! I was hooked from the first page and throughout the entire book. I will definitely be looking for more books by Sylvia Bambola to read. This is an inspirational political thriller. This book follows the lives of two highly skilled women engineers. One is Trisha, who is a strong Christian. The other is Audra, who is not a Christian, and this is shown in her lifestyle. They are developing a huge project, but while in the process, something dangerous is going down. The question is who is behind everything? Everyone is a suspect, including high leadership in the government. If you enjoy clean, easy to read political thrillers, then you will like this one. I highly recommend this book. I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinion.

If you are a reader that thrives on intrigue, mystery, and sabotage, this is the book for you. It is the story of two women engineers who are involved in the project that is developing a nuclear-powered aircraft. Trisha Callahan and Audra Shields faced many dangers in their work as well as in their personal relationships. Various interests wanted to sabotage the project which portrayed what could be reality by 2025 or sooner. Both women became involved in questionable relationships. One with a married man and the other with someone who seemed to have a dark side. Through the use of a plethora of characters, the author wove a masterful story of faith, hope, love, mystery, danger and intrigue. There were so many facets to this book to keep the reader totally engaged. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

The Babel Conspiracy is a contemporary thriller/mystery action packed novel by Sylvia Bambola. It’s the third book I’ve read by this author and I’ve enjoyed all of them. So far, I’ve read a Biblical fiction, historical fiction, and now this contemporary novel. I must say, that Bambola can write across various genres and does a superb job doing so. The Babel Conspiracy stars two female engineers working together to build the world’s first nuclear powered airplane. The story is set among increasing global terrorism and focuses on the character’s different life styles. Trisha Callahan loves the Lord and is a strong believer and her faith and testimony are tried when she finds herself falling in love with a married man. Audra Shields is the other engineer and she claims no belief in God. Audra lives a promiscuous lifestyle and it is obvious she is jealous of her boss, Trisha. If you enjoy thrilling, action-packed mystery and suspense, then will love The Babel Conspiracy. Like all of Bambola’s novels, I found this one hard to put down. I highly recommend it. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, through The Book Club Network ( in exchange for my honest review.

Reviewed by Tracy A. Fischer for Readers' Favorite In a great new work of Christian fiction by author Sylvia Bambola, The Babel Conspiracy is a story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats and obsessively turning the pages from the start all the way through to the very end. Follow the story of female engineers, Trisha Callahan and Audra Shields, as they work to develop the first ever nuclear powered aircraft, amongst the growing threat of global terrorism as well as their own messy personal lives. Trisha struggles to maintain her deep faith in God when she finds herself falling in love with a married man. Audra has always lived a devil-may-care type of lifestyle, but when she finds herself in a relationship that borders on the dangerous, she begins to question what she thought she always wanted. Will either woman find what they are truly looking for as well as complete the mission of their work? You'll need to read the book to find out. I very much enjoyed The Babel Conspiracy. Author Sylvia Bambola has done a fantastic job of creating characters that her readers will truly connect with and care about. The Christian message of the story comes across strongly, but is not so overwhelming that readers will feel as if they are being hit over the head with it. This story is exciting and filled with political intrigue and action, and any reader looking for a great book should absolutely pick it up, even if they are not specifically looking for Christian fiction. I highly recommend The Babel Conspiracy, and I look forward to reading more from author Sylvia Bambola as soon as I possibly can!
