About the Author

New York Times/USA Today bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-seven-plus years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.

While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.

Melanie delights in a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative storylines to her, often with a large glass of wine keeping her company.

A quick hour read. I loved very much and it was quite entertaining. It’s part of another story, The Contract. It’s about the couple Richard and Katy starting there family. I will be picking it up to read soon. I highly recommend this story.

This story should have been an epilogue in the first book 'The Contract '. It was a cute less than 25 pages of Richard reaction to becoming a Dad. Mjw

The Baby Clause is the follow up short story of The Contract that you must read in order to understand this story. In this novella we get a quick glimpse of the lives of Richard and Katherine after she finds out that she is pregnant. Told in Richard’s POV, the novella is full of emotions that will leave you satisfied at the end. Having conquered the business world, now Richard has a new role to fulfill and that is of becoming a father. When Katherine finds herself sick, Richard does the only thing he could think of in order to give his wife a fully resting day, and that is to take his daughter to work. What happens after will leave your heart melting! He is a completely changed man and he shows that in this novella. The ending will shock you as well as bring you to the ultimate happy ending I’ve read in a long time. I have become a huge fan of Melanie Moreland now and I cannot wait to read what she comes up with next! ***A copy of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review.***

One of my favorite characters comes back to let us know that he's still a bit crazy, but this time around he's crazy about his wife and his new baby on the way. I love when authors give us insights on the lives of the characters we adore and what happens after their first adventure is over. Richard is a daddy to be, and although he's not the ogre anymore, he's still a bit of a control freak but definitely turns very soft when he experiences the miracle that is fatherhood. It really is adorable to see such a powerful man dotting over his baby and his wife. Melanie did a wonderful job bringing a lovable Richard to the surface, a swoony man, really. Her writing as usual is top notch and her storytelling is the kind that keeps the reader wanting more after the story is over. This is a short story that is not only entertaining but the money is going to a good cause. I would recommend that you read The Contract before you read The Baby Clause so you can understand the characters and their story a bit more.

Mmm, what can I say about The Baby Clause? Short, sweet, with just the right hint of sexy. Richard VanRyan used to be a hard-a**ed, tough, aggressive businessman. That was until he met Katy. At first it had been pretend, but then they fell in love and now they’re about to become parents. He’s gone from the guy who vowed kids would never be on his radar to the sweetest dad on the planet. But how will he cope when he has to man the fort all day long? He has an important meeting to get to. Will it work out or will he give it all up for his child? So many awws with this story. I just loved it. I’d missed Richard and Katy, they were a heart-wrenching story in The Contract last year. This little novelle was just the icing on the cake.

If you loved Richard VanRyan in Melanie Moreland's hugely successful The Contract, you are absolutely going to love The Baby Clause. My only gripe is that I read it in an hour, and I could have happily settled into another full book of Richards and Katy’s shenanigans now they are well on the way to becoming a fully-fledged family. "What do you need?" "Hold me…" "You never have to ask." Mainly told from Richard’s point of view, this novella gives you little vignettes into his life with Katy, who is carrying their first child. No lie for such a short novella Melanie managed to pull a whole gamut of emotions from me, from laughing till I almost peed myself at the beginning to a few tears, and sighs in the middle, while finishing with a happy and satisfied smile at the end. "We did good." This is a novella that does what is says on the tin, beautifully written, and well worth an hour of your time. I would recommend you read The Contract before you tackle this little follow-up, because it highlights just how far Mr VanRyan has come since his initial meeting with Katy to where they are now. "Before I found you. I coped. Now I live."

I absolutely loved The Contract and thought that the only thing missing from that book was an Epilogue for a glimpse into the future. When I saw this book, I was so excited, unit I read this book. This book was so short and did not provide what I was looking for as a continuation to their story. I am glad that the money is going to a charity, otherwise I would be even more disappointed in this purchase.

I so loved these characters from The Contract ! Which is a MUST read before you read this Chapter for Charity. Ms Moreland gives the reader a glimpse to a piece of the future of her characters. It's Richard all over again in his perfectly impatient self. This sneak peek is not only a perfect little continuation, but also supports a very worthwhile charity, Keith Milano Memorial Fund. So worth the cost with 100% of proceeds to KMMF. Hear that Mr B&N? Definitely a five star for me.
