The Band by Richard Davenport

Miles and Simone are typical graduate students whose lives are disrupted by repeated deadly encounters with bear-like creatures. Death and destruction follow these creatures everywhere they go. And they get around.

Are they mutations that escaped from a lab or something from another world? The Band aren’t here by accident; they have a Purpose.

About the Author

I've been reading science fiction since 2nd grade (does anyone else remember Have Space Suit—Will Travel?) From the photo I'd expect you to conclude that was a while ago. The Band is my first novel, based on my love of science fiction. I recently finished Mikey Goes to School.

I enjoy good food and wine. When the urge strikes I swim a bit in a pool and I can be found occasionally on a dance floor with my wife.

You can correspond with me at I am willing to provide a coupon for a free copy of either book in exchange for a review.

I enjoyed reading the book and watching the suspense develop as you found out over the course of the book who the 'evil doer' ended up being. The character development of the main characters seems to be on track and I hope the 2nd book brings out the history behind the 'science' implied in how the Earth is being infiltrated and of course, what THE PURPOSE that the 'enemy' refers to is. I hope to see a 2nd book.

While the book does deliver on the gore, I was greatly dissapointed in the ending. It is 705 pgs and does tend to drag on a bit. I didn't like the enemy and don't want to give up details of the story by telling why.
