Title: The Banovic Siblings Author: Gillian Felix Publisher: Createspace Series: Family Portrait # 2 Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: 4 Review: "The Banovic Siblings" by Gillian Felix was the second in the 'Family Portrait' young adult series. You will find that there were a lots of weird drama going on with these rich teenagers doing all sorts of things while it seemed that the parents were not aware of it. I found there were also many characters Kevin, Leighann, Savi, Haze, Adriana and Zax to name a few in this story and it was most interesting how this author was able to play them all out so well giving the reader a well written story. Now, you had to keep up in the read because something was always going on in this intriguing read. Be prepared for ...blackmail, love, emotions, hate and secrets. You will have to pick up this read to see for yourself how this author will bring it all out to the reader. All I can say is what a world these people lived in and with that being said I guess we will have to see what the next series will have for us.
Received ARC for an honest review Well what can I say, the art is in the telling of a good story and boy can Gillian Felix tell a story! This book is not just about two main characters far from it, it's two family's the Banovics' and the Decostas' and their friends too..Every person in the book has a story to be told even the secondary characters have a good solid back story as the character build-up are so defined, descriptive it just flows beautifully, you get to know these people personally and an insight into the type of lives they lead. I'm reading this as a stand alone book and it was really easy to follow with the character dynamics and dialogue, It had plenty of drama-plots twist- deception -blackmailing-set ups-bust ups-drug dealer-family loyalty. Even a Miss Robinson (Savi) where you love her for turning up to save her daughter when she did but she is out for her own gain.. I had a few laugh out loud moments and one huge CLIFFHANGER! Gezz I'm on the edge to find out what happens next! We need more! This could definitely be on the big screen... Favourite character: has to be Kevin with out a doubt, caught by the devil and the deep blue sea, I hope he teaches Jeff a lesson or two. Adrianna: she's just a minx! sweet and innocent on the outside but just don't cross her! really a chameleon in disguise. Zax: is just a Sweetheart - Oblivious to what's going on around him with Leighanna. I absolutely loved this story written at a very high standard very talented one not to be over looked. Highly recommend 5 mind blowing starsMy play list for this book would be The Killers - Direct Hits 2013.
Life in the world of The Banovic Siblings by Gillian Felix is one huge, entwined, entangled and totally engrossing tale! Wealthy, beautiful, talented and living lives filled with more chaos and conniving than the best soap operas have to offer, each of the siblings live dual lives, the ones their parents see and the ones that skate the edges of the proverbial cliff. Kevin has gotten entangled by a beautiful cougar who just happens to turn out to be his mother’s high school best friend and she i out to blackmail him into keeping quiet. Zax takes a fall for his best friend, who returns the favor with back stabbing and girl grabbing. Adriana, who can turn on the girlish charm at the drop of a hat can often be her own worst, most vicious enemy. Each of them hold a secret dream, each wants a relationship with someone special, but will their own deceits block any chance for happiness? Must they continue to play the roles they have created for themselves? How far will they go to protect or avenge someone they care about? Author Gillian Felix has created prime time-worthy reading here, so set up your mental wide screen and sit back and take a deep breath, because once you start page one, you will be going at warp speed as these teens navigate the webs they have woven. Great characters, flawed, too mature for their own good and most definitely entertaining, you will love them one page and while on the next, you’ll be ready shake some sense into them. All the while, you have to marvel at how they have managed to survive in the dog-eat-dog world they live in!
Why, oh, why did this book have to end? Seriously, I was reading, reading, reading, and the inevitable "The End" comes. I literally was like "OMG, Gillian, you are torturing me!" 2013 has been jammed to the brim with books for me and I have to say that the Family Portrait series is by far, one of the best series I have ever read in my life! Keeping up with the soap opera like plots, Felix brings you closer to the characters you meet in book one, Changes, and makes you wanna deck a few in the process! I don't know how she does it but within these short novels, Gillian Felix is able to bring about character progression, backgrounds, family ties, drama, emotional hormones of some crazy ass teenagers (and a few adults) and more! I honestly do not know who is my favorite character anymore! I think Kevin Banovic or Adriana still...gosh, I just don't know if I can pick just one! Adriana is still as wild as ever! Totally crushing on hot babe, Haze, Adriana has some skeletons in her closet and gets manipulated by someone you wouldn't think would have it in her! Kevin...LOVE him! I love his character! He's honorable in most things, gets into some sticky situations, which by the way, I am so looking forward to how he deals with monster mom, Savi. Savi....hmmm...Let me sum this up in a few short sentences. She is a selfish, conniving, insatiable, scum of the Earth woman, who doesn't deserve the beautiful daughters she has and takes full advantage of! She things only of herself and is crazy as hell to boot. I thought at one point in the book, her act may change...but oh no...no no no. I loved this book, I am now wanting to read book one and two again just to feel close to the characters again...sooooo good! Throughout the whole time of leaning the lives of each character, you always see these webs being weaved on how they are connected and a bigger story is brewing in the background! I still wanna know what happened with the PI hired in book one to find Robin Banovic's brother, Adrian! Seriously...with this much drama, emotions, family love and hate...I cannot wait to see how this series will end (though I don't want it to EVER end)! If the individual books in the beginning of the series pack this much of a punch...just think how it'll end! You guys need, and I stress it, neeeed to get your hands on a copy of both Changes and The Banovic Siblings and start reading. They are shorter books, (I read mine in a couple hours...and I am a slow reader) so you cannot go wrong! You will LOVE them and will be left crying out for more, like me!
