It's a delight to see this in print again. Rousing militaristic science fiction at its best-the plot complex, the battles desperate and the stakes awesome. The Battle for Terra Two keeps well, too. I first read the Biofab War series in the 90's and still reread it on occasion, despite the sad condition of the original Ace and Tor paperbacks, long out of print. There's about a chapter's worth of characterization, more than compensated for by an intricate plot line, crisp writing and action cascading into ever greater challenges, intrigues and battles. (The mindslavers are especially dark.) A fun read to lift the spirits and bear you far away. Hopefully Berry will publish the other three books in the series-this is #2. They stand well on their own, but it would nice to have the complete set available again. His new novel, The Eldridge Roster, is out-a techno-thriller-scifi amalgam based on the Philadelphia Experiment and the fate of her crew's children. Significant character development in that one and evil that strikes far closer to home.
