Gr 4-6-Each volume includes a lengthy preface summarizing the highlights of the war followed by an introduction, short chapters, and an epilogue. Full-color and black-and-white reproductions of famous British, French, and Colonial heroes, as well as maps of the respective battle, appear in each book. While the focus is an unbiased reporting of the war highlighting both American and British triumphs, there is no bibliography or citation for quotes included in the texts. Both titles open with the same two-page overview of the Revolution, and there is some overlap of the personalities covered. While these books have the appearance of being easy because of their open format and brevity, the information presented is better suited to older children.-Kristina Aaronson, Henniker Community School, NH Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
