About the Author

If you enjoy tales of the sea I’m sure you will enjoy my stories. Over the last twenty five years I’ve been told that I should put my encounters of the shell fishing industry into words. Sitting amongst friends and family while sharing stories of my escapades in the clam business I was often told how my life growing up on the shores of Long Island would be found entertaining by not only the people who knew me, but by many others as well. You should write a book! So… I did, as a matter of fact I wrote three. No, my stories don’t take place hundreds of years ago like many of the stories you may have read about the maritime. Most of my story takes places much more recently and just down the road from one of the largest cities in the world. Modern day pirates, mob bosses and boat chases; that’s pretty much the foundation of my storied, all wrapped around generations of my family’s connection with the Great South Bay. It was a life that I lived and must admit I looked forward to the challenges it presented every day. My love for the water and my association with such a spectrum of characters coming into view along my life’s earlier course makes for a fun and sometimes thrilling journey. So yes I guess it was these friends and acquaintances that got me started thinking that I should write about the clamming game well before I’d ever foreseen a need for my life’s passion to be seen in print.
