About the Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bears books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.

The Berenstain Bear books are known for their character building stories that are full of good values, faith, and life lessons. Five of these books have been bundled together in an attractive hard back that all teach about caring, sharing, and the importance of choices. The book is one that can be treasured for generations and will teach great lessons to little ones as they listen to their parents reading. Included at the back of the book are the activities that children and parents can do to put the lessons learned in to practice. I loved the idea of a hardback book that can be held by little hands and stand up to the rough use that children sometimes put books through. The stories are the same wonderful stories that we all enjoy and have been reading since childhood. This is a book that I will be recommending and purchasing as gifts in the future. I received this book free of charge from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for my honest review.

I am a huge fan of kids books! Growing up the Bernstein Bear's were always a favorite of mine! I loved the family, their silly antics and the adorable tree house that they lived in. "Too Much Vacation" was always one of my favorites and I remember reading it with my Mom over and over again. So when my oldest son came home from Kindergarten with a Bernstein Bear's book in his backpack I jumped for joy! He loves these books and it is something that we can all enjoy together as family. When I ordered this book to review I assumed it was just one book, but I was wrong!! It is several stories in one! It is a great set to add to your kid's collection! The animation is just as I remember it as a kid, vibrant colors and beautiful artwork. I truly enjoy these books and they come with a great lesson for life in each book. We ended up reading the entire set as soon as I received it in the mail! Such a great set of books!! I will definitely be recommending this book to all my mom friends! :)

“The Berenstain Bears Caring and Sharing Treasury” was sent to me by Zonderkidz - a division of Zondervan Publishing – free of charge, in exchange for my honest review. “Caring and Sharing Treasury” is another children’s picture book, in the Berenstain Bears collection. This one is a collection of five stories. Mike Berenstain took over for his mom and dad in writing and illustrating this series. I love the Berenstains, and have been reading them since I was a little girl. I read them to my boys when they were little. And, now I read them to my grandchildren. I look forward to the day when my grandbabies read them to their own children. They have always taught good manners and morals, and now they include God’s Word in them. They also include questions to talk about and ways to put what they’ve taught into action. In “The Berenstain Bears’ Caring and Sharing Treasury” we see five different stories in one book. The first book is “Jobs Around Town” which teaches the cubs that God gives us all different talents. They explore different times around town…like an astronaut, an engineer, a farmer, plus many others. The second book is “Get Involved”. The cubs are in a club where they do lots of fun things, and also learn how to help others. One of the things they did was help with building a barrier of sandbags in town when a rainstorm came. The third book is “Love Their Neighbors”. They went through their neighborhood admiring all the fancy, elite house. They had one neighbor, though, who lived in a rundown shack, who they didn’t like. They had a problem that all of the elites just ignored…Only one neighbor came through for them. They learned that things aren’t always as they seem. “Gossip Gang” is the fourth book. In it they learn that gossip hurts and, when someone is gossiping to you about someone else, they’re probably also gossiping about you to others. The last book is “The Berenstain Bears, and The Biggest Brag” about boasting and bragging. I really like this book and would recommend it to young readers and those who read to and teach them.

These stories are bundled into one book, the following is my review of each story. Caring and Sharing Treasury 5 books in 1 Jobs Around Town The bears take a trip around Beartown to see what they might want to be when they grow up. A cute story that brings God into discovering the talents each might have to help them determine the type of career they might choose. Great drawings around the small city of Beartown, will catch the attention of kids. The pictures are eye-catching and humorous for children. A great story that also includes a strong faith message. 4 stars from this reviewer. Get Involved This book is a great introduction to children about the many ways they can be involved in their city, church, school and at home. The faith message is very clear, and balanced. A flood on the river will have all of the Bear family involved in helping those who live on the river. A great book for kids to learn about being involved. 4 stars. Super cute. Love Their Neighbors An absolutely adorable book about who our neighbors are, and how we shouldn't judge on first impressions. This book is a good book for kids, because we live in a world where looks and status are at the top of the ways people judge others. Truly you might compare this story to the Good Samaritan. The faith message is here, woven through the story. It is a good story that shows children that everyone we think is good neighbors might not be helpful in the time of distress. 5 stars Gossip Gang Well, this title should have parents very interested in what their children will learn from this book. These stories have underlying messages in them, they aren't just for entertainment. Sister Bear is having a lesson about what gossip is and how it hurts others. Sister found out how much it hurts for her friends to talk about her. She lashes out in anger, but soon learns that is not how to solve the problem. A great story that will help kids realize that even children are prone to gossip and it hurts. 4.5 stars The Biggest Brag Do you like hearing people brag? Brother Bear and Sister Bear seem to have a habit of trying to out-do each other with their talents and good deeds. Well, they try to out-brag each other. Mama and Papa Bear realize they have to deal with this in a proper manner. Even cloud watching brings out a competitive streak in the siblings that leaves each cub upset and angry. Grizzly Gramps will help them see the error of their ways. A good story. 4 stories.

This hardcover book is not a single story but rather five books in one! In these pages, readers will learn about different jobs in the community. There is an emphasis on how everyone has a unique purpose and no one job is more important than another. When the kid bears start gossiping, there is a story about the damage that can do. However, there is still reconciliation and the emphasis on saying sorry when one has done something wrong. When the bears try to constantly one-up each other, Grandpa Bear comes in and puts life into perspective. No one needs to prove themselves by making others seem inferior. In another story, when family members are in an emergency, the whole town comes together to help out. There is yet another tale that teachers youngsters not to judge others based on looks. So many good morals are shown in this book without seeming corny. The reading level is grade school and up--I would not use this with book with a toddler. While religion is not pushed in this book, there are Christian undertones. A preacher is included in some stories, and there are references to the New Testament Bible.

Zonderkidz has released another collection of Berenstain Bears' books by Jan and Mike Berenstain. This collection of stories is called Caring and Sharing Treasury. The stories included in this book are: Jobs Around Town Get Involved Love Their Neighbors Gossip Gang Biggest Brag This collection of books is great for ages 4-8, and includes activities and questions in the back from each of the 5 stories. I really enjoyed reading these stories. I liked how each story begins with a Bible verse and then brings up different topics to discuss. The story promotes a great springboard for conversation with my kids. The Berenstain Bear books have always been a great hit with my family, and I am glad to see these books continue with the great new additions from the Living Lights series. If you have little ones in your family, consider picking up these books and get some great conversations started in your family that help them think about what God would have us do in our relationships with others. ***I received this book free from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

The Berenstain Bears have been a favorite in our family through the years. The Berenstain Bears' Caring and Sharing Treasury is five books in one: Jobs Around Town, Get Involved, Love Their Neighbors, Gossip Gang and The Biggest Brag. These books are all part of the Living Lights series which are designed to help children learn how God wants them to live daily. There are references to God in each story and there are Bible verses that go along with the stories too. Each story is well told and geared to ages 4 to 8. I especially like that this nice treasury has a section in the back of the book to use with children as you read the stories. Each book has a "Talk About it" section with questions to discuss for each book. Then there is a "Get Out and Do it" section which offers ideas to help kids with applying the principles in the book they just read or heard. This book is a nicely bound hardcover and would last for a few generations I think even with regular reading use. It would also make a nice gift for a family besides being a book to use for your own family's reading times. The stories all contain life lessons and morals to help the whole family live a better life if the lessons are applied. I know they were a good reminder for our family. I received this book from the publisher, Zonderkidz. I was not required to write a positive review in exchange for the book.

I’m addicted to Berenstain Bear books. So of course when I saw Jan and Mike Berenstain’s “The Berenstain Bears’ Caring and Sharing Treasury,” I wanted to read it. The collection contains five books. All of the books are faith stories and part of the “Living Lights” series. The first book, “Jobs Around Town,” because of its simple, almost lack of, a plot, is geared toward three year olds, whereas the other stories in the collection would please 4-8 year olds. The narrator in this story is ambiguous. Is it Brother? Is it the author? I couldn’t tell. All of the illustrations were full-page and vibrant. The story is simple—it’s reads as a series of observations rather than as a story. The second story, “Get Involved,” was a more substantial story. Dialogue kept the story engaging and progressing. This story, as well as the rest, also had vibrant, full-page illustrations. “Love Their Neighbors,” the third story, was a clever retelling of the Good Samaritan story. I appreciated that this book was a thorough story with an overt moral message. The fourth story, “Gossip Gang,” is my favorite. The storyline is smooth and thorough, and the authors articulately tackle a big issue that kids have. “The Biggest Brag,” the final story, also has vibrant, detailed illustrations and a clearly-presented message which could have been enhanced with more Bible references. At the end of the Treasury are the “Talk about it” and “Get out and do it” sections that correspond with each story. I recommend this collection to others. The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book through BookSneeze®. I was not required to write a positive review.
