The Best of Sizzla: The Story Unfolds

Sizzla's success is no mystery. He is a lightning-tongued DJ who can ride a rhythm and spout creative rhymes with the best of the dancehall chatters, and while he's no crooner, he is a better-than-average singer who presents his Bobo Dread beliefs with an appealing combination of rootswise devotion and gruff, aggressive certainty. And ever since attaching himself to Fattis Burrell's acclaimed Xterminator crew, he has done so to the accompaniment of the best dancehall and neo-roots rhythms available. This very useful two-disc best-of gives a good overview of Sizzla's work since the mid-'90s. Interestingly, the program de-emphasizes somewhat the gleeful depictions of fiery Babylonian destruction and the fierce homophobia that are typical of so many Bobo Dread albums (including Sizzla's) in favor of more generally palatable songs addressing broader issues of faith ("No Other Like Jah," "Show Us the Way") and upright behavior ("Good Ways," "Love Is Always There"). Still, the preachiness would be harder to take if the rhythms weren't so consistently great and if he weren't such a talented singer. The combination tracks are a mixed bag; there are only two, and one ("Jah Blessing," featuring Luciano) is wonderful, while the other ("King in the Jungle," with a whiny Jah Cure) is bearable. Highly recommended overall.

Sizzla's story surely unfolds in this round-up of probably his greatest works to date aptly titled The Story Unfolds- The Best of. The thirty-track album carries the tracks that introduced me to the dimunitive artist in the summer of 95 right down to some of his more recent offerings. They are all tracks that capture his energy, artistry, livity and undoudtet talent. It is essential for new comers to Sizzla's world. It is long-overdue for his legion of fans. The CDs are still logged in my player. It will be a long long while before I play some other music.

Sizzla is a very creative artist ,which provide the viewer not only with a catchy beat ,but words of wisdom and understanding that enable one to see there way of life and relate to it by his preaching of the BIBLE and the emotions from his heart that many of us can relate to,for e.g-i thank u jah,and one of my favorite lines which is so true is,... i'm i to humble or ignorant.Sizzla is one in a trillion, yes one in a trillion as his performance show such. Even on stage it is an experience that is more than satifying but yet fulfilling. It it difficult to explain but my heart ,soul and mind goes into a different zone. When there is no guardian figure while growing up i listen to Sizzla all through the years, and i was taught many things as his music became a teacher of experience, that guide me to be the woman that i can be......and as he stated,...... you can't keep a good man down....and i allow no one and nothing to keep me down. and so i thank him.Bless!

Sizzla has proven to be a very good artiste over the years.Being one of his biggest fans I would prefer to see him return to his more cultural aspect like on this album in putting across his music today, which has brought him to the top.

This is a must-have album for any fan of conscious reggae. One amazing track after another. You can find some of Sizzla's best on this 2 disc collection. The sound quality is perfect. If you don't have many Sizzla cd's this is definitely the next one to get.
