About the Author

R.L. Stine began his writing career at the age of nine and has been at it ever since, becoming a bestselling author several times over. Among his many groundbreaking credits are Fear Street, the first young adult horror series, and Goosebumps, the bestselling series that made Stine the #1 bestselling author in America for three years in a row. He lives with his wife in New York City.

Trip Park grew up in Ithaca, New York, and went to college at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was first drawn to advertising. He then moved to Chicago, later New York, where he joined advertising agencies and worked on kids’ favorites including Cap’n Crunch, Gatorade, Kellogg’s, and Ronald McDonald. His children’s commercials have won numerous awards. But advertising also brought something equally as rewarding. There he got to work with some of his favorite illustrators. Watching these artists create their pieces inspired Trip Park to try his hand at illustrating himself.

Trip Park has illustrated a number of children's books including Gopher Up Your Sleeve, written by Tony Johnston, Trout, Trout, Trout! (A Fish Chant) and Ant, Ant, Ant! (An Insect Chant), both written by April Pulley Sayre. He has also developed characters and helped animate commercials for Nickelodeon, The California State Fair, Lego, and many others. When Rotten School came along, the opportunity to translate to the drawing board R.L. Stine’s cast of kids was a wonderful chance to combine his love for children’s illustration with this group of rotten students. His work can be seen at www.tripparkproductions.com.

Trip lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Laura and four children.

I bought my nine year-old son this book and he liked it so much that the following week we went looking for the next one in the series. It not only started him reading but he can't wait for the next one. Bernie Bridges is his favorite character but he truly like everyone at Rotten School. He has all the books and love each one for the adventure that it bring his way. I really recommend this to parent for boys that don't really like to read, these book can really help turn them into reader.

I’m going to be talking about the book “Rotten School.” The book starts out when the children are in school. They walk down the halls and the morning announcements come on telling them about the rules and what will be going on that week. There was this kid named Bernie B and he liked this girl named April may June, but she didn’t like him because she like the rich kid with the shine watch that did 42 different things. Bernie was jealous so he came up with an Idea to get that watch. He asked the rich kid if he was in on it and he agreed to it so they picked each other’s players. The rich kid didn’t like the idea at first but then he overheard a conversation that was ment for him to hear to get him to agree to the contest. The rich kid agreed to the contest and picked Bernie’s friend Beast that they acted like he was allergic to blueberry pie but he really wasn’t. Bernie picked the cool kid on the rich kid’s side, but now they had to figure out a way to get the pies. Bernie went to the cooking teacher and told her his mom won’t be there on his birthday and his mom always bakes him a blueberry pie. The cooking teacher felt sorry for him and had every kid in her class bake a pie. When it was time to go to lunch then walked to the cooking room and started there pie contest. In my opinion about this book is that I thought this book was very funny, silly, and interesting. This is a book that I enjoyed reading and will probably read again someday. This book is all about jealousy then ends in a good way. I think this is a funny book you should read it sometime.
