The Billionaire Bride by Marquita Valentine

From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Marquita Valentine, comes the Brides of Holland Springs, a sweetly sexy series set in the town that readers have come to love.

It's not easy being the woman most likely to be married to a fortune hunter, but Kate Von Lichtenstein has a plan to deter even the most determined gold digger. She'll take a page right out of her favorite historical romance novel - with her own unique spin. She'll marry a man of her choosing before the public gets wind of how much money she actually inherited from her grandparents. And who fits the bill better than the sexy and charming American businessman, Noah Sawyer?

After selling his share of the successful tech company, Noah Sawyer lost everything when an unscrupulous realtor stole the money he intended to use to purchase a huge swath of land worth millions. So, when a chance meeting at a mutual friend's wedding with a hot brunette turns into a mutually beneficial business arrangement, Noah jumps at the chance to salvage his business.

However, the sexy land developer has no intention of his marriage to Kate being in name only...

This is not a cliffhanger. Marquita Valentine wrote an entire story in less than 100 pages. The editing was poor, ("her" is not the same as "here"), but the storyline was unique. Instead of the normal rich man using his money to marry a wife, the author has a very rich girl using her money to marry someone she was attracted to. Kate's parents mentally and emotionally abused her all of her life. The one man she had crushed on all of her youth married a stranger. Kate's abuse left her feeling inadequate and useless. She dreamed of loving someone, but she was afraid that she wasn't worthy of love. Noah's parents divorced when he was a baby. His alcoholic father was a poor chouce as a parent, so he went to live with his paternal grandparents. They gave him a loving home, but his father's disinterest made him question his worth. Noah and Kate had to learn who they really were because what they thought they were left them feel life did not include love. They just needed each other to be able to reach a place where they could take hold of their lives. They needed each other because it gave them a chance to live life happily. This is an adult book with adult situations. Kate could not trust anyone to love her, but Noah sparked lustful thoughts. On the other hand, he had been cheated on by his parents, his lawyer, his banker, and his last girlfriend. Noah found Kate interesting and he found her proposal interesting. He found her sexually intriguing. Of course sex is involved because sex is a factor that enables them to open up and be vulnerable. If you find consensual sex between two married adults offensive, DON'T READ THIS BOOK. I found the book entertaining. I recommend it to adult readers.

I enjoyed the book, a little predictable but I enjoyed it. I would recommend it.

Barely 100 pages, the twist in this story is that she is an aristocrat who has recently come into billions, watched her childhood crush marry someone else, and decides to take control of her own destiny by reaching an arranged marriage with the guy from Texas, now a builder-developer in North Carolina so she won't be forced by her parents into a loveless marriage. Premise is ok, main characters fairly well developed, but there are choppy transitions between the story plot points, formulaic British snobbery, and graphic sex scenes. OK for a fast read, but could have been more if secondary characters, backstory, and plot points were more fully developed. Two stars.

I love romances and this definitely falls in that category. I've never read a story line with such a plot twist as this one had. I enjoyed it, though I do wish that had been delved into and explored further. This was a nice way to spend the evening after having been out shopping all day.

I like this book. The hero is a very a strong personality. He fought for the right to keep his wife. She was a baroness but had very little self esteem or any qualities that would help her have a life. In the end they come out victorious and become a family. Simone24

Liked the characters and the story line but wanted more -- about their daily lives, their interactions with others, conflict with their crummy parents, deets on her birth, life in the US, etc. Disappointing and way to rapid ending.

It started off fine but then it felt like the story was rushed a little too much. It was a good story but I wish there was more details.

I now love this book. My favorite part was at the end when her parents came in and we're like oh snap who told her.

I won't even finish reading this book. Made it half way and just couldn't. The writing doesn't flow. Narrative is choppy. Plot is there but weak. Just meh.

How can this trash sell so much? Several of the reviewers already said that this book was full of sex and explicit at that! The author struggled to get to 100 pages of sex it seems and to top it all rushed the ending. The worst part is that the editing and grammar were atrocious especially since even the last line had errors in it. Now if an author cannot deliver the last line of the book flowlessly they do not derserve to be called an author.
