The Blood Contract by Ron Ripley

Signed over two hundred years earlier, the Blood Contract ensured the sanctity of the Blood lands.  In return, the Blood family dedicated their lives, and their deaths to the protection of the town of Thorne.

For many years, the town of Thorne was nothing more than a picturesque New England village. But in modern day, the town is enjoying a boom in real estate development.  To satisfy the developers with enough land, the town has decided to break the Blood Contract.

And the Bloods are not pleased.

Not at all.

Now, as Autumn moves ever on towards winter, the Aldermen and the people of Thorne are going to learn that there is a price for ignorance.

And it’s higher than they could have ever imagined.

About the Author

Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day. He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed. Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones. Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.

Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times.

These were good short stories, some a little bit predictable. The book is about 60ish pgs. Overall a 4.5. *** spoiler the reason I didn't give it a 5 was 1 reason, some of the stories were predictable, the other reason was 1 story I felt was incomplete, now that the contract was broken, how was it gonna be fixed?

A "novella". Not a complete Nook book. Well-written but just a preview of a book.

I really liked this. Yes, it was short but I really liked how he kept it going and I didn't want to put it down. I liked the characters and the mystery. I also enjoyed the way he kept going back in time to explain what was going on. I will be reading all of the books. Hopes he writes more. Great Halloween short.
