HOW I KNOW THAT THE DEAD RETURN (1909) is a short account of Stead's personal experiences which dispelled all doubt in his mind as to the reality of a future life. WHEN WE SPEAK WITH THE DEAD (1922) is Estelle Stead's explanation of the possibilities and the limitations of communication as viewed from her personal experiences. AFTER DEATH OR LETTERS FROM JULIA (1910) is a record of conversations between W. T. Stead and the "dead" American journalist Julia Amis, received through automatic writing, shedding light on death and the life therafter.
