Overview

When the Governor s lovely assistant is found dead on the floor of Montana s Capitol, Missoula Senator Audrey Welter finds herself accused of murder. She turns to a Senate colleague, attorney Stretch Bruce from Roundup, to represent her. They struggle to fulfill their legislative obligations while preparing a defense to the charge and trying to figure out who is the real killer. Was it the Governor? The Attorney General? The vagrant found lurking in the basement of Capitol? Was it Audrey s former husband, who was enamored with the dead woman and had been stalking her? The twists and turns come one after another right up to the end of the trial, as Audrey s life hangs in the balance.

About the Author

Jim Moore came from a home where reading was encouraged. His parents both enjoyed books so the house was filled with reading material, which he took advantage of from a young age.Along the highway from his family ranch near Two Dot, Montana to Bozeman, the old Jawbone road bed is visible at places. In passing by, it often occurred to him that a good yarn could be wrapped around the story of the railroad. About twelve years ago, he decided to see if he could write it. Thus came into being Ride the Jawbone. As a rancher and a lawyer, he has much experience on which to draw his fascinating stories. In retirement he continues to write and Ride the Jawbone is just one of several completed novel length manuscripts. He has also put together about eight short stories, several of which have been published.Besides reading and writing, Jim spends much of his time out of doors with his wife,Kay; and her horses.Born Perry James Moore III, he is a native Montanan with years of ranching and legal experience. He graduated from Montana State University in 1952 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He married Kay Nash in 1954 and they made their home on the Moore Ranch near Two Dot, Montana where they raised three children. He studied law at home, passed the bar exam and practiced law in Harlowton and then in Bozeman while maintaining his interest in the ranch.
