Sophie Palazzo steered clear of the mafia after her father's involvement ended with his murder. Fifteen years later, Joey La Torre, the Don's brother himself, shows up unannounced at her massage studio and wheedles his way into a date. She has no interest in aggressive, macho men like Joey, or so she tries to tell herself, but her body just doesn't get the message. When Joey takes her in hand with a firm bare-bottomed spanking, she ought to be furious, instead, she's aroused. As she explores her physical desires to be dominated, she tries to keep Joey at arm's length emotionally.

Joey knows he wants Sophie for keeps from the moment he walks into her life. She is hot, classy and full of fire, even though submission turns her on. But his involvement in the mafia is a hard limit for her, bringing to conflict his own dedication to the Family, the code of silence and his relationship with his older brother. Can he reconcile his duty to the organization and his growing need for Sophie to remain in his life permanently?

Spanking Fetish and a Bossman where will this lead us. Let's take a look. . . Joey knows who he is and what he wants.  It is unfortunate that he has little choice in the matter according to the family he is born into. He is born to the family to serve the family.  He is in direct line of ascension. He knows his place whether he is happy with it or not.  He does what has to be done. Sophie purposefully stays away from the family because she wants no part of it and what it represents.  But is this her mother's prejudices or something she can get over. Sophie has not intention of becoming involved with anyone that has ties to the family.  But Joey makes her an offer that she finds hard to refuse.  Men like him, dominating, intimidating, & controlling, she makes a point to avoid. With all this said her proclivity to spankings shocked me and I think it may have shocked her also. This story could have lead to more and been more.  I found it entertaining. Thank you, NetGalley.

I’ve been wanting to read this one for a long time and I now that I have I’m kicking myself for not digging in sooner! Sophie is against everything mob related. It took her father away from her during a time when she needed his guidance the most and then it took his life. When Joey shows up in her life again she fights against the attraction she feels for him. But Joey is one sneaky, charming hero and he finangles her into one date after another and then surprisingly into a hot as heck spanking. What should have felt humiliating actually turns Sophie on and soon she’s craving his complete dominance. I loved reading how this couple both come to explore how punishment can add a deeper dimension to a relationship. For Sophie it is a means of letting go and finding a safe place to land. Joey finds an intense enjoyment out of knowing he’s providing her with what she needs emotionally as well as physically and sexually. This is a fast paced read that is so steamy I’m sure my glasses fogged up a time or two. The mafia angle was well done, although I must admit I haven’t read a lot of mafia romances. The secondary characters were okay and the ending was pretty perfect. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Riverdale Avenue Books. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was really good; even better than I expected because while Joey is connected to the mob, he’s got personal integrity and that Alpha bad boy aura made his character appealing right from the start. The book is fast paced and very well written and the storyline is compelling because of Sophie’s tragic childhood and the trauma that affects her many years later as an adult. It’s easy to sympathize with her very real fears of a long term relationship with Joey and I admired her for acting on her convictions. Smart dialogue, lots of naughty sexual encounters and a great storyline; this book is a real treat. I read a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

The Bossman is mob erotica story. I must say I was disappointed with the story. I decided that I want to read it based on the reviews that I read but I just didn’t see the greatness like the others did. For me the story was poor the character not very likable especially Sophie. Her way of thinking, acting was annoying, like she herself didn’t know what to do. Joey was more like a grown up man who knew what he want an act toward his goal. The BDSM element in the story was for my taste unnecessary because none of them knew what they doing and that was not part of their intimate lifestyle. Average story, waste of my time. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

What a great read from Renee. This was my first venture into an Italian mob type story but not my first read from Renee, she does a superb job with this story. Joey and Sophie. Sophie has distanced herself from anything that resembles "the family", as did her Mother. Joey and Sophie meet when he ends up on her massage table at the suggestion of his mother due to an injury. Sophie isn't happy about this, and when Joey bails her out of an financial crisis that unfolds, she fears being beholden to the family. Joey makes it clear, it's not the case. The backstory is perfect and well told in this book. Joey's brother is the head of the family and Joey essentially does his brothers bidding. Joey, college educated and restless is ready for a change and wants Sophie along with that. Watching Sophie come into her own with Joeys family was a testament to her mettle. Renee writes these two characters so well, she brings them to life. We witness the story evolve, Sophie gets some resolution that she's struggled with from a young age. This was so well written, no angst (huge plus for me) and she connects all the dots. The end was perfect. This book had it all for me. I loved it. **arc from Publisher in exchange for an honest review**

A spanking romance where Sophie has gotten away from the Family after her father's death. Now she's falling for the Capo's brother, Joey. Both have strong personalities. Sophie does not know how to ask for what she wants sexually but Joey can read her behavior to determine what she wants. He wants to love her and make life easier for her. She doesn't want to be beholden to the Family again. I liked these characters. I like their strength. I also like how they don't use words to show their commitment to each other but their actions. Some of the secondary characters leave something to be desired. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Based off some of the reviews I read, I wasn't sure I was going to like this story. I actually really liked it and thought it was kinda hot! Yes there were a few things I didn't like and can see why people complained but I easily overlooked them because the story itself and Joey, the Hero, were what really made this book for me. Sophie's dad was part of the mafia family. Being in the mafia meant he spent time in jail and not long after loses his life when Sophia was just a kid. Her mom hated that he was mafia so after her dad died, her mom's hate fueled Sophie's beliefs. They both distanced themselves from the family, only having contact when one of the members brought money to them over the years to help support them after her dads death. Years later, mob boss' brother, Joey, seeks Sophie out at her place of business to get a message for pain he suffers from a knee replacement. There is instant attraction but Sophie wants nothing to do with him. Wouldn't you know, her car ends up getting repossessed just as she finishes Joey's message. He of course intervenes on her behalf and demands a date for helping her out. She's resistant but has no choice. Now the rest of the story is Joey worming his way into Sophie's life all the while she fights him every step. Normally the constant resisting is a pet peeve of mine but in this case it worked. She has legitimate fears about the mafia and the way Joey pushes was actually pretty romantic. He genuinely cares for her and won't let her fears push him away. You also have some light Dom/Sub in this story. I'm personally not a fan of D/S storylines but what made me love it in this story was the author did such a good job of expressing how much Sophie needs Joey to take control in her life. Joey doesn't need the Dom/Sub relationship but he sees right through to how it helps calm her so he takes the control. I thought that was a unique approach from the author. Usually D/S is instigated because the man needs it. In this case, Joey only did it because he realized Sophie needed him to take control. He was very careful about not pushing her and was always putting her needs first. Also, the author focused a lot on spanking. Again, not my thing but the author wrote about it in such a way that it didn't really bother me. The other complaints I read were the author did not do a good job of switching scenes in the book. One scene flowed into the next and I could see how it caused confusion. This book really did need to be edited better. This is something I hope the author will improve on for future books. I will definately read more from this author. ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Sophie and Joey meeting after so many years apart. Sophie had some preconceived notions that weren't correct and watching her work through what happened with her dad years ago was enlightening. Joey was not what I expected, but he was such a great guy. I loved how Sophie helped his brother even though she was trying to keep Joey at a distance. I liked how Joey gave Sophie distance but never was there is she needed him. This was another great read from Renee Rose!

This was a really quick read that was packed with a lot of information and a few twists that kept it very interesting to me. I do think that the length of this book was done just right because if it had been any longer, than it felt like the story would have been repetitive. But that certainly wasn’t the case with this book. I did enjoy the characters of the story; both Sophie and Joey. The only thing that I didn’t really enjoy about their relationship was how quickly it seemed to progress. I was left hoping for a bit more resistance, but it did end up working rather well I think for both of them. I thought that the author did a really good job with Sophie’s character though, because her resistance and feelings toward the family were very crucial for the story to progress the way that it had to go. I haven’t read anything by this author in the past, but I am glad to say that I did still enjoy the story and will be looking into reading more from them in the future! *Copy provided for review* Reviewed by Crystal Marie for Crystal’s Many Reviewers

Review from PS Naughty Reviewers ~ Suzy I gave this read a 4.75 out of 5.0 Whew! Spank you Renee for mixing two things I love strong Mafia alpha males with spanking. I loved that the main character Sophie was sassy but not whiny. It was endearing to see her vulnerability play out in regards to her sexual desires. She had other underlying reasons for wanting to distrust him and giving her heart to him. His willingness to bend for her quite a lot was sweet and balanced within his strong character. I wish I saw some more of his memories of her, why he felt so strongly for her. There were some times when he had internal thoughts, so the book wasn’t purely in her POV. Watching them learn each other was intriguing; all the while she was learning more about herself. He found that he too had desires he never knew he had. I was surprised by the end result, the brothers assessment and approval. You know I am a fan of happily ever afters, especially when they end with a sore bottom. ¿ Enjoy!

Oh for the love of all that is a spanking romance, this one has to top my list! I have to say, I had no expectation when I started this book. I saw a raving review for it and decided well, I think I will grab this. Spanking... Good Alpha Mobster... Good Angsty Romance... Even more Good! This is my first Renee Rose book. I'm glad that this was my first because it makes me want to read more. I'm not by trade a huge fan of the whole mobster romance. I don't get it most of the time, and sometimes the mobsters end up not being Alpha enough, and it gets gooey when it needs to stay raw. Their often isn't enough killing, and I don't understand having to 'respect' someone in a world that I don't live in. Well, all these confusions are laid to rest in this book. Joey, our resident Alpha, stays Alpha, Even when he is winning over his woman Sophie, who I honestly don't blame for her not wanting to be in the crime world. I mean, its scary, its dangerous, and you run the risk of having a husband killed or in jail. I respected her choices, yet at the same time, she didn't try to communicate enough, and Joey, being the proper Alpha male wasn't like "Look, I'm thinking about getting out. We good?" lol Cause you know, they talk all caveman like and clipped like that. With an inflection at the end of their statements like they are asking a question, but they are really confirming submission. That brings me to the spanking part of this whole tale. I liked it. The only thing that bothered me was her, "Oh, I was bad, are you going to spank me now?" I rolled my eyes a few times only because I wanted HIM to be like, "Pull'em down, bend over, and grab your ankles. Time to face the consequences of your bratty tantrum actions." The build up and anticipation got lost a lot of the time because Sophie spent 90% of the time being a brat to get a spanking. Which isn't a bad thing because Renee wrote Joey in a way where it was half playful, half serious and all sorts of sexy once the hump was getting on. As a whole this was a great read that I read in a day. I don't call books over 100 pages a 'short story' I think the avid reader forgets how fast they read a 300 page book and everything suddenly turns into a short story when its not Game of Thrones. At the end of the day I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes spanking, mobsters, their males Alpha, and a solid story with suspense weaved in to create an engaging read. *I received a FREE copy of this book from Riverdale Avenue Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

I loved this story! It took me on journey and I was sad to see it end! Sophie is as stubborn as it gets, she has no desire to be affiliated with the mafia or the be wrapped up in Joey's company. He comes into her office one day and that starts her a whirlwind that she won't soon forget. Joey is stubborn. He is determined to make Sophie his. He fights hard to get her attention only to realize she just needed some time over his knee. He falls in love with Sophie and soon realizes that he wants out of the mob life. Does he get out? The Bossman was a short and fun read. It caught my attention from the first few pages. I loved Sophie and her attitude. I saw my own sassiness in her. I look forward to more titles from Renee!

The Bossman was a rollercoaster that I did not want to get off of. It is nice to see a Mafia bad boy have a soft and bewildered side. When Sophie and Joey discover, by accident, that Sophie like to be spanked, you would think that would improve their relationship. Nope, just makes the sex more interesting. See, Joey is part of the mafia and Sophie wants no part of it. The mafia is what got her dad killed. Their explosive attraction to each other cannot override Sophie’s fears of belonging to Joey. When Joey’s life is endangered, Sophie is shaken to the core, but is it enough for her to overcome her fears? There will have to be compromise on both their parts in order to make the relationship work. I fell in love with this story and hated to see it end. For a short book, it makes a powerful impression. I give this book 5 stars for making me want more.

Renee Rose does it again! Is there an era or situation in which she falters? I’d have to say no. In this contemporary spanking romance, Rose introduces us to two wonderful characters, Joey and Sophie, people whose lives are driven by The Mob. His involvement is a family thing, and her interest is to get away from the society that brought her pain in the past. Although it looks like these two could never find their way to happiness, Rose manages to bring them together. I love the way Rose imbues her characters with life, mannerisms, and heritage, without beating the reader over the head. I needed no prompting to recognize their Italian-American speech patterns. They were drawn perfectly. And if you’re looking for romance, there’s little more romantic than a tough guy softening up over the girl he loves—but not too soft! There’s a balance and The Bossman finds it perfectly. If you want a fun, erotic, romantic spanking romance, this is a book for you.
