I totally enjoyed this book and the characters definitely act like a family going through the trauma of a sister/daughter getting pregnant and not knowing who the father is. Fast read, exceptional characters, great story line...once you get to know the people in the book, you will want to learn more about them. Maya and Caleb are exceptional in their roles. Although Caleb's father is a curmudgeon in the beginning, he ends up being a credible character. Maggie Shayne is an exceptional author, in all her genres.

I loved this book with all it's twists and turns and the way the author pulled it all together so the reader could easily keep track of what was going on. OK, it's surprising to have Maya be a virgin at 29 and it's even more surprising how she decided to take care of that problem! The character development was excellent. Both main characters had issues. Maya didn't want to love someone in case they were not there for her when she needed them, like her father. Caleb was tired of people wanting to be with him because of his money and status when he just wanted to be liked for himself. This made him not trust anyone. All the characters in this book were great. The sisters were so different from each other and had their quirks that made them so much fun.
I liked the way the author showed that experiences in our childhoods affect us later in life, even if we don't realize it. The twist to this billionaire story was great with Caleb being a nice guy who doesn't want the attention his money and family bring.
This book was so good that I didn't want to put it down but when I did, I kept thinking about it all day!

Such an excellent and fun book to read. Enjoyed this first book in the Brand family series. I have always enjoyed Maggie Shaynes's stories. She brings out all the character's personalities to win your heart in the stories. I loved this book and will definately read all the sequels of the Brand ladies.

Wow! What a wonderful romance and I got it for free which is an added bonus. Maya is the oldest of 5 sisters in a town where her families reputation is not that great. She struggles with the view everyone has of her and the family so she works very hard to be respectable but as her 29th birthday approaches she starts to feel it will never work. So when a handsome strangers strolls into her families bar, she boldly follows her instincts and has the night of her life. What she doesn't expect is the surprise that will arrive 9 months later. Caleb is running from his family obligations and ends up at the Brands bar crossing paths with Maya. She is so refreshing to him, she doesn't know his family name and is just genuinely attracted to him so her pursues this woman though he lies about who he really is. Then he is called away without saying goodbye. Several months later a photo appears in his mailbox sending him back to Big Falls to find out what is going on. Will Maya forgive him for lying to her and then disappearing? Will Caleb follow his heart? Or will family obligation win? Truly a fabulous romance that is a great escape for the holidays.

Great start to a new series. Good story and well developed characters. Easy reading. A romance with more to it than just romance. A bit of explicit sex in one chapter but not overly done. No foul language to speak of. A book that will keep your interest until the end and wanting to learn more about these people.
Plan to read more in this series.

Very light romantic novel with predictable ending but worth reading for pure escapism. Would not mind reading others in the series.

Normally not into romance books. This one was suggestive but not vulgar. Fell in love with each character right off. Plenty of humor and positive strength for the woman that made up this story. Cried several times also. Check it out and I will read more from this author.

I like. The obstacles are accidental and incidental - well, there's how she thinks he thinks of her, but he makes it pretty obvious she's wrong pretty quickly. Why he went was an accident. And the way he acts once he comes back shows the sort of man he is - and she shows her quality too. I like the Oklahoma All-Girl Brands. I want them to cross with their cousins, though. Amusing how Bobby helps - spinmeister gets it right.
