WARM CHARMING AND FLAT-OUT FUNNY...

"A heartwarming and funny story about friendship, romance, and the heart-wrenching reality of breakups-while busting out some spot-on dating advice along the way."- Liz Tuccillo, Bestselling Co-Author of He's Just Not That Into You and Executive Story Editor of HBO's Emmy Award-Winning Series Sex and the City

A broken leg requires an orthopedist. A broken car requires a mechanic. And a broken heart requires a specialist too. The Breakup Doctor is now in.

Call Brook Ogden a matchmaker-in-reverse. Let others bring people together; Brook, licensed mental health counselor, picks up the pieces after things come apart. When her own therapy practice collapses, she maintains perfect control: landing on her feet with a weekly advice-to-the-lovelorn column and a successful consulting service as the Breakup Doctor: on call to help you shape up after you breakup.

But when her own relationship suddenly crumbles, Brook finds herself engaging in almost every bad-breakup behavior she preaches against. And worse, she starts a rebound relationship with the most inappropriate of men: a dangerously sexy bartender with anger-management issues-who also happens to be a former patient.

As her increasingly out-of-control behavior lands her at rock-bottom, Brook realizes you can't always handle a messy breakup neatly-and that sometimes you can't pull yourself together until you let yourself fall apart.

The Breakup Doctor is packed with entertaining, good advice." -Donna Barnes, Relationship Coach and Author of Giving Up Junk-food Relationships, and Founder of the Date Better Online Dating Network

"I was expecting a cute quick read, what I got was much more. Brook's character is great. She is well-rounded and her path to self-discovery through her breakup was realistic and at times heartwarming." - Chick Lit Books

The heroine in the book, a psychotherapist who counsels clients around their breakups, is a steady woman who fancies herself as stable and not given to emotional outbursts. Unlike her best friend, she must keep a stiff upper lip around romantic breakups. Then, her second boyfriend leaves her, and the chaos begins! I loved this zany book! It was full of surprises, and kept me laughing.

This was a heartwarming story about family, friends, romance and of course, as the title says, breakups. Brook Ogden becomes the Breakup Doctor after she is forced to close her practice. The story has some very funny, almost true to life, situations involving Brook, Sasha, her new clients and her love interests. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for her in the next book in the series.

Phoebe was ever so kind as to ask me to review her lovely Breakup Doctor Series – there are 4 books in the series, books 1 – The Breakup Doctor, and book 2 – Bedside Manners are already published. Book 3 – Heart Conditions (more info below) will be out on February 9th, but is available for pre-order now on amazon. I will post the review for ‘Heart Conditions’ on February 9th. Brook Ogden is the main character of all of the books. She’s a licensed mental health counselor who suddenly finds herself out of a practice and desperation forces her to take on the role of ‘The Breakup Doctor’ with a local newspaper that her best friend works for. Brook wants to help everyone with their relationships, her family, her friends but she’s a little lost when it comes to taking her own advice. I gave these two books 5+ coffees – aka ‘Hells to the Yeah’. Brook appears to have it all together in the dating world to her clients but that is definitely not the case. One ‘almost’ marriage, a nearly perfect almost live in boyfriend, a trip to the ER and a party with friends of the past, send her down paths that could bring out the crazy in every woman on the planet. Brook is hilarious, insightful and fun to read and I truly felt like we were friends midway through book 1. She reminded me a bit of Janet Evanovich’s ‘Stephanie Plum’ with her crazy ideas on dating and her even crazier clientele. Which for me meant I was never bored and I was incredibly glad I had the first 3 books to read all in one weekend (which I did, in less than 48 hours actually – the husband loves when I do that – ‘what’s for dinner, honey?’ I dunno… what’s in the fridge, I’m busy.) Phoebe is a great writer and the story flows easily from book to book. Drama, fun and heartbreaks are all through the books and I guarantee you won’t want to put them down. This show needs to be a TV series… I’d be hooked and I think it has the potential to go that way. (Because obviously I’m an expert at predicting the next big TV show – I don’t even have cable, but take my word for it!) To me this series is perfect, I want to read more of Brook and her friends and I added it to my top 10 reads of the year. I’ll be reading anything and everything Phoebe Fox writes with excitement! What I loved: -There are a lot of tiny story-lines within each book and I loved that because you never felt like skipping through to the one you liked most. -The boys are intriguing and hard to decide who to root for! -Brook’s family is funny, crazy and drive her crazy which is fun and was a great addition to the story. -Brook’s clients! Holy Moses, I’ve been married a LONG time but these people have some issues that are true to life and true enough to make you feel for each of them. -My own real life best friend’s name is Brookie Lynn so I was interested from the first page. What I didn’t love: -That I don’t have book 4 yet! I seriously loved them. What I thought of the cover(s): -LOVE the covers, very genre fitting, super cute and you can tell they all belong to the same series. My conclusion: Seriously, go buy the books and don’t wait another second because before you know it book 3 and 4 will be out and you’ll be the last to read this fabulous series! Phoebe is an excellent writer, true to chick lit and true to romantic comedy. You’ll laugh out loud, root for almost every character and become friends with some awesome fictional people who can live in your head forever! To read my full review check out

This is the first book in the Breakup Doctor series and didn't disappoint. How hard it must be for a breakup doctor to follow their own advice. This is just want happens to Brook! Part of me thinks I would be like Brook and just accept things and move on, but in reality, one needs closure. Will Brook get closure from what happened to her?

Thank you, Phoebe, for writing The Breakup Doctor! It's an easy read with just the right realistic balance of defeatism and optimism that feels all too familiar when a relationship dies. It was just what I needed this week :)

he Breakup Doctor is a very enjoyable story of a woman who counsels people through their breakups, yet she falls totally apart when she encounters her own. I really liked the main character, Brook, and I felt for what she was going through. She was so good at doling out advice, but couldn't get her balance and take that advice herself. I enjoyed the storyline, and the book kept me entertained throughout.

What a Great Book!! What a great book, it has it all humor, romance, and wonderful break up advice! I love Brook, she is as licensed mental health counselor. Brook goes to work one day and they are literally tearing down her practice because it has been condemned. Her best friend Sasha has the worst luck with her relationships and Brook is always there to help Sasha over them. Sasha tells Brook that she needs to start helping others with their break ups. Brook starts writing a column for the paper that Sasha works for and becomes The Breakup Doctor; she is very successful with her new columns. Her life is going good, that is until her boyfriend breaks up with her and she tries to handle the breakup like a professional, yeah right! This book had me engaged from the first page, I could totally relate to Brook and I believe that anyone who has every experienced a break up would relate to this book. I sure hope the author Phoebe Fox writes another book with the same characters. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
