This cookbook is filled with the most useful (and fun!) information I need in the kitchen. I don't have a lot of time to cook, but BrokeAss Gourmet makes it easy to eat a delicious, home-cooked meal (without spending a ton of money or time). I LOVE the $50 pantry, which helps me remember to stock up on the staples. The recipes are utterly delicious yet surprisingly simple -- so it's a breeze both at the store and at the stove. One of my favorite recipes is the cilantro pesto chicken, a totally elegant and easy-to-prepare crowd pleaser. To top it off, the anecdotes and stories behind Gabi's recipes make me smile. Love it!!
This book is excellent! It is a "must give" gift for any high school graduate going away to school, for any college graduate moving out of the dorms and generally a great gift for anyone moving out on their own to their first apartment or for your favorite newly wed. it is a great book for the experienced cook, but it is invaluable for the would be cook who doesn't know where to start. The author in the most warm and personal tone gives clear and concise directions on how to set up, clean and outfit a functional kitchen for the production of .......YES! really fabulous food on a tight budget. The best thing about this book is the author's warm and encouraging voice. It's like having your best cool friend in the kitchen with you prompting you through the steps to making simply wonderful meals.
