Phenomenal work you will not be able to put down. Weeks's books just seem to keep getting better. Will leave you scrambling for a reread of the entire series...multiple times.

Great book! It was a little slower paced than his others and not as many twists, was still enjoyable. Mr. Weeks has left us more questions than answers so I can't wait for the next book!!!

Tolkien and Robert Jorden made me crave fantasy and even jerks like Patrick Rothfuss continue to feed those flames. Brent Weeks is now the king for me, can't wait to read future works! Peter Brett has a new warded man out in 3 days let's see if he can push this writer off my pedestal.

Definitely jumps around between characters and plot lines. In the beginning fell prey to that insidious issue that so many books structured in this manner have--I simply liked some plots better than others. The beginning was slow to start, it was easy to set down for a time when I was with a character I was less invested in. But the book really was good the whole way through, well organized, the characters are interesting and the political maneuvering is interesting but not overpowering. By the end I was practically racing through the book.

I'll confess I was hoping the story would be wrapped up in this installment, but I am looking forward to reading on. It seems like all the characters grow up a great deal, alliances and loyalties form, battle lines are drawn, and twisty, twisty plot turns--including some terrific OMG developments! Loved every page, thank you Brent!

I must say, Brent Weeks didn't skimp on books 2 or 3. They were great, and I certainly didn't see the twist ending in book 3 coming. Man! And I certainly appreciate the correction of the passive voice that was so evident in book 1. If you are a fan of magical fantasy worlds like Robin Hobb's work or George R.R. Martin, take a look at Brent Weeks's Lightbringer series. It's well worth it. Five stars across the board!

Brent Week's strengths are his plotting and his ability to write action scenes. This book is a bit tedious in some of its early sections as the narrative is chopped into dozens of short chapters following 6 different characters. But in the last 200 pages these narratives converge and build into several action-packed sequences and climaxes that are powerful, emotional and highly rewarding. Weeks is creating a vast complex world and the Lightbringer Series may develop into one of the best fantasy series of all time.

Powerfully colorful book showing the insight into the mind of people who change the world. Fascinating read and highly imaginable while keeping enough human characteristics and tendencies to captivate an audience.
