Overview

Sometimes a single flame can ignite a love that lasts a lifetime.

Milo Phillips knows the meaning of pain. Suffering through the most intense physical agony of his life, he's confined to a hospital bed to bear it alone. More than once, he wishes he'd died in the explosion that melted and mangled his skin. Darkness consumes him, snuffing all the joy in his life and leaving an empty hole in its place.

But one day, a flicker of light sneaks into his hospital room, driving away some of the hopelessness. For the first time in months, pain isn't all he feels.

The flicker's name is Sara Foster, his new nurse. Milo just hopes that Sara can see past his scars. Because underneath, his heart has begun beating again just for her.

The Candle Palace by Devney Perry will warm your heart and soul! In this wonderful novella, Devney gives us the long awaited love story of Milo & Sara. The story begins in present day Jamison Valley, 12 years after Milo's tragic accident that landed him in the burn unit of a hospital in Spokane... A hospital where he meets Sara. The connection between these two was so beautiful to be apart of. Sara gave Milo the strength and courage to pull through during his darkest moments. Love blossomed in room 503... lite by the light of a tea light. The Candle Palace, nicknamed by another burn patient named Luna who will surely captivate your heart; this novel was a bit angsty but had a whole lot of spirit. It truly is the perfect ending to such a sublime series--a series full of stories I will always come back to. Thank you so much, Devney!

With a distinctive way of storytelling and a rather unique set-up that returns readers to an unforgettable series full of beloved characters, Devney Perry begins in present day Jamison Valley before taking us back twelve years prior. Sara is a nurse in the burn unit at the hospital in Spokane. But she isn't just any nurse. She is caring and brings sunshine and smiles to those in despair and pain... And Milo, sweet, kind-eyed Milo is in pain, so much so that he's closed off at first, drowning in regrets as he blames himself for not being attentive enough to have prevented the accident that occurs in The Coppersmith Farmhouse, book one of the Jamison Valley series. However, Sara is a calming balm for Milo as she soothes his pain. As a fan of novellas, there is nothing more I love then a fast-paced read that I can finish in a couple of hours. However, with this book it was just not the case as I found myself wanting to spend more than just a few hours. As always when spending time in Jamison Valley, I wanted to stretch this book thin and savor every word. The significance of a candle, the meaning behind the titled book, Luna's bright presence throughout, and a love that shines even during the darkest times like an ever-glowing tea light. The Candle Palace, though a short story is not only one that is full of depth but it is one that is full of heart!

Well my lanta!! The Cadle Palance may be called a novella but this baby packs a full novel punch!! Milo hit me right in the chest!! We saw Milo early on in the series and knew he got his HEA but getting his story was so much h more than my mind conjured up. Devney Perry has an exceptional talent... Milo is at his lowest; he's begged and wished for his own death. But he's alive. He's been in incredible pain, inside and out. Then one day Sara crosses his path and a new spark ignites in him. I loved Sara's kind and generous soul. These two made my heart ache in the best possible way!! Miss Perry is one of the most beautiful writers out there right now. I get pulled into her worlds within words. Her people tug at my heart and make me fall for them, completely. I'm often left feeling wrecked. I'm emotionally invested in these characters. Above I write about Miss Perry's exceptional talent, I could not mean this more. I can't think of more than five current authors that get me so wrapped up in characters, so I tuned to their feelings that I ache for then. I cry for them. I laugh and smile through tears. Most of all, the strength and integrity left me feeling hopeful and happy. Is there a better way to end a book? I can't think of one!! I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

The Candle Palace by Devney Perry is the sixth book in her absolutely amazing Jamison Valley series. This is the heartbreaking and inspiring story of Milo and Sara. Mio is the deputy from earlier in the series that was burned in an explosion that nearly killed him and injured another officer. This is a story of love found in the horrific pain in the burn unit to the obstacles of being a nurse in love with a patient. The storytelling is magical. The attention to detail truly makes you feel like you are fully immersed in the story, in the hospital witnessing the love story begin between these two. Loved it! I highly recommend everything by Devney Perry! Enjoy!

Milo and Sara's story was another amazing journey from Devney Perry. Milo is in the burn unit of the hospital and Sara is his nurse. I loved this story, Devney knows how to write an epic love story that pulls you in and keeps you hostage until your done. Milo has his own demons and must overcome them in order to move forward. Milo and Sara have definite obstacles to over come and I loved how they overcame everything. If your looking for a fluffy funny romance this isn't it. I always am amazed at Devney's books because I read so much and she still manages to amaze and shock me. Please one click Candle Palace it is like no book you've ever read.

The beautiful story was something I never knew I needed. An absolute perfect addition to this series. I love a broken guy who is at his lowest and worst, and love helps him find light. Milo was this to perfection. I just adore him. I loved the way the story was told. Another home run from my favorite author!

WOW!! I read this when I first got it, waited, and then read it again. This Novella gives you everything. We met Milo in The Coppersmith Farmhouse, he was a side character, but you could tell then that he had a sweetness about him with a heart of gold. Milo was involved in an explosion, and went to Spokane for medical treatment. When Milo returns at the end of The Coppersmith Farmhouse, he has Sara and we just knew she was as amazing as him. Well Devney Perry gave us The Candle Palace, and I for one am grateful! Sara was Milo's nurse in the burn unit, and right away she is drawn to him. He is in pain and is suffering from horrific burns to his body. Sara has a gentle soul, and a softness about her that eases Milo. They slowly build their relationship, and you can feel the love flowing off the pages. Sara and Milo build something so sweet, and so solid, that your heart just falls right along with theirs. This story was beautiful, and sweet, and full of everything we could have ever wanted for Milo. Devney Perry has mastered the ability to pull you into a story and actually make you feel as if these characters are part of you. My heart is full, and I will be diving in for the third time soon. "It all started at The Candle Palace"

The Candle Palace is a sweet and enduring novella to Devney Perry’s Jameson Valley series. It tells the story of Milo and Sara and how they met. Their story is rich and full of goodness and I enjoyed it so much! It was awesome to get a small glimpse at the other heroines from the previous books as well. This book is a great addition to the series.

Devney Perry, Author of "The Candle Palace" has written an amazing, emotional, thought-provoking and romantic novel. The Genres for this novel are Fiction, Women's Fiction, and Romance. The timeline for this story is in the present and anything in the past pertains to the characters or events in this story. The author describes her characters as each having their strengths and weaknesses.  Sara Foster is a nurse in a Burn Unit in the hospital and has seen patients in the worst physical condition and horrific pain. Wherever she can offer them comfort she does. One of the teenage patients loves candles, and Sara brings her colorful battery-operated candles. One new admission, Milo Phillips was badly burned in an explosion.  He is in terrible pain and very badly scarred. Milo blames himself and sometimes is very testy with the staff. Milo warms immediately to Sara's presence in the room. Sara seems to be his bright light. Only hospital rules necessitate having certain rules in place. I appreciate that the author discusses important topics such as scarring and looking different in society, drugs and alcohol, and dysfunctional family and work situations. I also love that the author talks about the importance of family, friends, love, emotional support and hope. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

We met Milo as a secondary character in the Jameson Valley series. You could tell from the beginning he was someone to love and The Candle Palace confirms it! Sarah is a nurse in the burn unit and Milo is her patient after he was injured in an explosion. Sarah knows from the start that Milo was not just an ordinary patient. The development of their relationship was so sweet. Each of them recognized something special in the other and day by day their feelings grew and they knew they needed to be together. Though the focus of the story is the growth of Milo and Sarah's relationship, Devney gives a few good twists as well. I found myself talking out loud a couple of times saying "I didn't see that coming"! It was so much fun to visit with ladies of Jameson Valley and as always, Devney Perry left me craving more of her characters and a need to revisit Jameson Valley.

Devney Perry has added another wonderful addition to the the Jamison Valley series!! Milo and Sara are the focus of this novella. We get to go back and see how they became Mr. & Mrs. Milo ends up at the hospital where Sara works. It is there that we get more about these kind characters and see how much love they have for each other. Sara is so sweet and Milo you just feel for him but they both have you rooting for them at the end!

This is the novella brought me such happiness! Throughout the Jamison Valley series, Milo has made appearances and he has been the character that I have always wondered about. How does his HEA happen? What were the lasting effects of his injuries? He may have been a side character at the beginning but he made such a huge impact on the series that he for sure needed his story told! Devney Perry was able to make the book start out in a way I didn't see coming which. I loved reading about Sara. She was brave, she was strong, and even though their drama was completely different than the others, their story has just as much of an impact on me as all the others. The Candle palace is unique, heartfelt, and just as potent as the previous books in the series. It has love, just a bit of suspense, and the heart that we have come to expect from this writer.

The Candle Palace, is the newest by one of my favorite 1-click authors, it is a novella packed full of sweetness, swooniness and a bit of intrigue mixed in. Milo and Sara’s story is such a beautiful one. After a horrific explosion, Milo had been in so much pain, not only physically but also emotionally. But with the appearance of his new nurse, Sara, it all becomes bearable. I absolutely adored the relationship that developed between Milo and Sara. There were some obstacles that got in the way, but the connection was so strong that nothing was going to stop them from being together. I loved their story so much, the friendship, the chemistry and absolute love they had for each other was just awesome. Definitely another 5-star read!!

What a wonderful story!! I truly didn’t know what to expect from Milo’s story. Actually when Devney announced she’d be releasing this book, I wondered to myself what could this story be about??? Well I have to say this book took me by complete surprise, but in the best way. This was such an emotionally charged story. I wasn’t expecting the storyline to be about this subject. But I thought Devney handled this story and it’s subject matter perfectly. This was also a very heartwarming and swoony love story between Milo and Sara. I am so glad she decided to write this book because it truly completed this series. All of the characters have had their story told and each one was just as great as the first in the series. We’ve seen Milo and Sara in the other books in the Jamison Valley series, but now we get their before story. We get to see how Sara and Milo first meet and get their HEA. This is a novella but it truly didn’t lack for anything, This story was filled with emotion, romance, love and even some drama to keep you turning the page. I actually would’ve loved more of Milo and Sara. I loved their story that much!!! The Candle Palace is a standalone novella in the Jamison Valley Series and is told primarily in Sara’s POV, but we do get some of Milo’s POV also. Just enough to know what he is thinking and feeling. This story may be short and quick but you will absolutely fall in love with Milo and Sara!!! It was also great being back in Prescott, Montana. I loved seeing the ladies of this series again and how close their friendships have grown!! If you are a Jamison Valley or Devney Perry fan, then you will WANT to read this book. If you haven’t read anything by Devney Perry, I suggest you change that and pick up any one of her books!!! They are ALL that good!!!

There are times when fate plays a huge part in placing you at a defining moment in your life. For Sara – working as a nurse in the burn unit weights heavy on her heart. The empathy that Sara exudes for her patients goes far beyond a time clock. Each person’s rehabilitation extends beyond the painful treatments and scars. Sara wants nothing but the best for each of her patients during their time in the burn unit. One patient that entered the hospital for treatment would eventually lead Sara on a path that she never thought possible. Milo had injuries that left even the most experienced nurse struggling to deal with his treatment. With painful steps necessary to treat his burns, Milo found himself looking towards the nurse who had become the savior in the darkness. As the nurse and patient found themselves thrown together through the pain and treatment, an attraction began to grown although it was considered unethical. Where would their paths lead through the sorrow and pain? Returning to Jamison Valley is always a treat for the senses and the heart!! Sara and Milo’s story is one that will touch your soul. The tragedy that has brought the two together was written in a way that will make you believe you are privy to their interactions. I found myself absorbed in every nuance of the pain and attraction. Milo truly was the epitome of a soul mate for Sara, and this novella captures every aspect of that touching time when their love was just beginning. Simply put – the Candle Palace is a wonderful compliment to a series that tugs at your heart strings. This novella was a great addition that gave depth to the story of how Sara and Milo began their romance. I love every story that involves the residents of Jamison Valley, but Sara and Milo have definitely pushed to the top of the list!

A single flame that ignites the love of a lifetime! This novella has all the feels. This is the story of Milo and his HEA. He is a side character in the rest of the Jamison Valley series and is intriguing enough to warrant his own story. The Coppersmith Farmhouse, the first in the series, explains what happens to Milo to put him in the position of meeting his one true love, Sara. Milo is hurt in an explosion and Sara is his nurse in the burn unit at the hospital. You learn about the strength each of these characters has...both as individuals and as a couple. Though their story is not quite as full of excitement as the other characters in the series...their love is just as powerful. Devney promised a powerful story...and she did not disappoint! A very enjoyable read!!

Holy Toledo! This book. Oh my goodness. I LOVED it. Couldn’t put it down. I have been anxious to hear Milo’s story since I knew it was coming out, and it did NOT disappoint. Milo and Sara have a raw, real kind of love and story. Relatable, and fabulous. Sweet and real, and enough love to last a lifetime. What more could you want?! Now....where’s my freaking Milo?!?! :)

Holy Crap, I thought the Jamison Valley series was OVER with book five, and here we go with book 6. I will never not want to read a story from Devney- and that’s the truth. Every time I read one of her books- I fall in love with the characters, no these are my favorites! Wait, in this next book though, I think these will be my favorites. And that is how I continue to read her words. Milo has been burned badly in an explosion; it has taken a toll on him physically and mentally. And he basically lives in darkness, until he finds the light of a new nurse names Sara. Sara works in the burn unit now in Jamison Valley- and she immediately feels a connection to Milo. And it’s like his burns never existed. Her genuine heart and compassion slowly pull Milo out of the darkness, and this novella is their love story. Of course there are some twists and turns like only Devney can accomplish, but overall this sweet love story is one of my favorites of Devney’s and I encourage you to read the whole series and save this one for last, because while it isn’t a full novel- its full of a great story. What I think I love most about Devney is that even though it is supposed to be a novella, she packs a punch. And her characters are always so real and down to earth, like I would see them at the coffee shop together. Her stories aren’t usually about the gorgeous model with no body fat and the male model with abs he can crush cans on- they are about real people- finding love together against all odds.

I was missing Jamison Valley and was always eager to hear about Milo’s Happily Ever After. Sara is his perfect match. They compliment each other so well and this story fits perfect with the rest of the series. I highly recommend this book as well as the rest of the Jamison Valley Series. This can easily be read as a standalone.

Oh yeah! This is what I’m talking about! A novella that is full and rich, filled with enough angst to keep it going, romance that will make you swoon, and some drama to keep it interesting. Add in another trip to Jamison Valley and a story that fans demanded since The Coppersmith Farmhouse and I am spinning with glee! I was so freaking excited to get Milo’s story. After being burned in an explosion his story takes a back seat to the other characters in Jamison Valley. But now we get to see what really happened and how he met Sara, the love of his life. This was everything I wanted and nothing like I expected. Working on the burn unit, Sara is a sweet, caring and kind nurse that feels an instant attraction to Milo. His burns don’t distract from what draws her to him but his stoic acceptance of the pain incurred during his treatments makes her respect and care for him more. I loved that she had a genuine heart and although she has some professional struggles in regards to her growing feelings towards Milo, she worked around them and in the process fell madly in love. ”Her touch soothed the burns more than any cream or ointment on earth. Her voice was a dream, chasing away the dread and despair. When Sara was in the room, the pain was bearable.” We don’t get much of Milo’s point of view, but we know he’s much like Sara in his demeanor. He is polite, kind, and not the type of guy to stand out in the sea of alphas that live in his hometown. But with the right woman, buttons can be pushed and protectiveness can rise up when needed. While this story doesn’t require much in the way of him standing up for her, it’s obvious he is completely alpha over her. Gotta love everything about that! ”No more crying, okay? I can’t take it.” “I’ll try.” She gave me a small smile. “Is that just a guy thing? Not being able to see a girl cry.” “No.” I ran my index finger up and over the hills of her knuckles. “I can handle tears. Just not yours.” This book is filled with so many swoony moments, extreme chemistry between Milo and Sara and moments that will have you choking back a lump in your throat. Ms. Perry brings these characters to life, making them real and their story completely believable. I can’t express how much I loved this couple, their story and this return to Jamison Valley. Can be read as a standalone.

This is the story I've been waiting for! Milo has been a favorite of mine since he was first introduced in The Coppersmith Farmhouse. And after what happened to him in that story, I so needed the backstory of how he and Sara met. The Candle Palace gave me exactly what I needed! Milo had been caught in a pretty bad explosion in The Coppersmith Farmhouse. Because of that he was brought to The Candle Palace (a wonderful nickname for the burn unit at a hospital in Spokane). Right from the start, Sara, a nurse in the burn unit, felt a connection with Milo. Likewise, Milo felt it, too. While they started off as patient/nurse, they soon formed a friendship. But because of the professional relationship that they had, they had to fight their feelings. Holy cow! I absolutely loved The Candle Palace! I loved how strong Milo was- how he handled his injury so maturely, how he evolved so well from the beginning of the story. And Sara- I loved how caring she was with her patients (not just Milo, but Luna as well), how she was strong enough to see Milo for more than his injury. As usual, Devney Perry has written such a wonderful story. Her stories always delve deeper than what's expected, and always have a twist in there that keeps you on your toes. I am so sad to see the Jamison Valley series end, but feel wonderful knowing that all of the characters have a complete story told. I highly recommend The Candle Palace, and the entire Jamison Valley series- it's one of my all-time top series! Oh, and I understand that #MiloforAllyson
