Sebastian is a lonely kid who lives with a father who does not care about him and is an alcoholic. His uncle, who's wealthy, decides to take Sebastian under his wing and help pay for his college, as long as he works hard. When Sebastian graduates, he takes a job at his uncle's company and moves to Chicago. In Chicago, the government is falling apart and is being taken over by Super Heroes, who were created when they were out in the rain during a crazy storm. Sebastian decides that he can be a hero without powers and instead use his brain and money to make himself as good as the other heroes. One problem. There are bad guys, too, and sometimes the line between good and bad gets a little blurred. Read The Cape to find out how Sebastian overcomes his past and battles relationships while trying to pick a side in the never-ending battle that occurs when the good people aren't always good and the bad aren't always evil. Opinion: This is a very well-written story that shows the blurred lines of good and evil that are our reality. This novel encompasses the truth of how power and money change people. The characters are well-developed with intricate pasts that shine through their masks. The author created a time and place that could very well happen today. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to read a superhero story.
The Cape is a book about Normals and Super-Normals (humans and superheroes). As I've found in all 'superhero' plot lines, the superheroes are fighting villains, both normal and super-normal. In this book, Normals are living peacefully with the Super-Normals, when all of a sudden, one of the good guys kills a Normal. The book follows the path of Sebastian Teleford (Sebas), a man who uses technology to attempt to save the city. Will Sebas be able to save the city from the clash of the Super-Normals? Find out in this book! Opinion: Braxton A. Cosby wrote a great book! Even though The Cape was a book three, it didn't seem like it. I was able to understand just about everything going on in this book. The characters were well thought out, and there were a lot of descriptive words used. I liked Sebas because he was a Normal who was just as capable as the Super-Normals, even though he only had a super suit, whereas the Super-Normals were enhanced. Filled with action, adventure, and plot twists, with humor sprinkled in, I didn't want to put this book down. I would recommend this book for ages 12 and up because there was some death.
