I always love Molly Harper's books, so when I won an advance copy of The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires through the Goodreads giveaway, the only happier "happy dance" was when the package finally arrived from Pocket Books (sorry UPS guy). I'd planned on keeping my prize pristine, but it's already dogeared from carrying it with me to read any chance I got. Twice. This story is related to the Jane Jameson series, but is a fully stand alone novel. However, I wouldn't worry about it too much, because I'm guessing after you read Care and Feeding, you'll buy the rest of Harper's books. Here's why I'm such a fan: Molly Harper creates story lines that keep you laughing throughout the entire book. Her characters end up in situations that are ridiculously funny but somehow abstain from being plain old ridiculous. The humor is always perfect, never annoying or overdone. You can relate with characters (and sometimes events) and you can't wait to see things finally work out. They are appropriately romantic and always manage hilariously inappropriate nudity. In fact, if I had to sum them up in one word, it would be "hilarious." I usually listen to the audio versions (which I highly recommend, by the way - the narration is PERFECT) and I've never finished one without laughing out loud at the awkward situations and plot twists and been completely unable to explain to someone in the room what was so funny. Care and Feeding definitely had a different feel than Harper's werewolf and Jane series, but if you enjoyed either of those, you'll love Iris and Cal. The paperback included a brief preview of the forthcoming Witch Hunt, so now I'll have a new release date to watch for, because it looks like she's done it again.

As you've probably figured by now, I am going through the list of #RARE17 authors and Molly Harper is on that list. And I am so happy she is :) I've never read anything of hers before now and I can honestly say that that was a huge mistake on my part. I really, really, really loved reading this story (well, I actually listened to it but anyway :D). It was entertaining and fun, romantic and sexy, and just to make it even better, sprinkled with suspense and mystery. When I started reading the story, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I do love vampire stories but lately, there've been so many that it is difficult to find a really good one. But this book is one of the best PNR books I've read in a long time :) Iris is such a fun character. I just love her quirkyness and sometimes stubborn nature :D She is all against socialising with vampires even though she deals with their everyday errands. But once her job is done, she stays as far away as possible. Well, until she meets Cal :D And even though she tries to resist him, there is just something about him that makes her weak in the knees :D And Cal is so totally worth it. Cal is quite an intriguing character. He is quite the old soul and considering he's been alive since the time of Helen of Troy, that's meant literary :D He does have some issues with modern etiquet and quite often manages to offend or anger Iris. But while they work through their differences, they find in each other what was missing in their lives. And let me tell you, Cal is so swoon worthy once he gets over his idea of women being the weaker gender :D So yes, if you haven't read Molly Harper yet, you should rectify that immediately. And you do need to meet Cal. I can guarantee you will love him :) And in case you've read the author before, then you know you are in for a treat :) This is simply the perfect light read for a night at home :)

Very rarely are books funny enough to make me draw attention to myself :) This story has some fascinating and amusing characters, an intriguing mystery, and sizzling chemistry. I just bought three more books by this author as soon as I finished this story and now have a new favorite author. I wholeheartedly recommend this!

I truly wanted too like this book but it was just anther Charline Harris type book (True Blood,Sookie Stackhouse) before she started to hate her own books. I couldn't even finish it before it ended up in my "get rid pile".Borrow the book from someone but dont throw away your money.
