Time and tide wait for no man—neither does Perry Mason.… A mystery in the best Gardner tradition chock full of action (mighty fast), angles (inventive and voluptuous), and aqua pura (meaning watertight solution as well as H20).

On his way to finding out, Mason meets Mrs. Milfield, a barely distraught widow, and a slew of suspicious characters all intimately connected to the recently deceased, a man murdered on someone else’s yacht. As the surprising scenario unravels, it takes a sharp mind like Mason’s, the savvy of his secretary Della Street, and the legwork of investigator Paul Drake to pull all the clues out of the water before the case sinks like a deadweight.

For a book with a good mystery and great courtroom drama, it's hard to beat Perry Mason. But while this is Perry Mason at his best, the Nook editionleaves a lot to be desired when it comes to the editing. It is obvious that the text was scanned from an original printed version and converted using OCR software and is filled with erroneous characters and misspellings, and misplaced punctuation. At one point a forward slash (/) isused instead of an I, and in one chapter Della Street's first name is repeatedly rendered as Delia. How sad to have to pay to read such a sloppily edited book.

I loved this book. Perry Mason stands alone as best litigator. He is a great detective and Erle Stanley Gardner weaves a tale that always keeps you on your toes.
